DirectX is cloned for Linux, and called WineX, it allows users to run windows directx based games on linux.. as soon as 3dsmax starts working on windows aswell, I have very little reason to stay with windows... =)

Q: Your company is introducing a new technology that will allow Windows designed-games to run on Linux. Can you tell us more about it?

A: The downloadable WineX product that we're launching today allows Linux users to begin running their Windows games directly out of the box on their Linux systems. Once WineX is installed, users can purchase certain Windows games, take the CDs, install the product, and run it on Linux.

yeah I'm hoping for 3DStudio Max to get ported over.. has Photoshop been ported over at all yet? If it hasn't I need that ported too.. and same with Dreamweaver.

DSilence: I've already got Max Payne to run successfully in linux using winex. It's a very good program.

ADoomedMarine: Discreet hasn't announced the availability of 3ds max for linux for anytime in the future--it's doubtful this will happen anytime soon--try Maya. Re: Photoshop--the linux equivalent is called "GIMP"--it's free and performs very well, equally as good as photoshop in my opinion. Dreamweaver runs well using just about any windows emulation program including the free "WINE" emulator.
