Oasis >>>> Blur. :)

Any song and any album. Preferably off of either Definately Maybe or Morning Glory, although the Masterplan and their later albums are very good IMO.

(PS. damon albarn should stick to Gorillaz.)

Personally I loved everything except maybe the first album, and their last album was just "okay" in my opinion. 13 was ****ing WEIRD but it has some mind blowing stuff, with Coffee & TV probably being the culmination of their poppy stuff to perfection. (I have all their albums)

And I'd like to say that while I love Oasis, or used to, to me they always came off as different experiences. As I've gotten older I've found myself still listening to Blur, but Oasis has faded by the wayside.

Lol, I love how everyone has trouble seeing Blur and Oasis in separate lights.

After 1995 was over, Blur had released one of many good albums, while Oasis began their decent into mediocrity. End of story.

Blur please. :)

Well, it was a pop war in which Blur almost won, but they had a problem in that they kept altering their style, and had trouble capturing (and holding) the American market. Oasis "won the war", even though Blur won some of "the battles". I guess it was just because they were both Brit-pop acts. But Oasis has always thoroughly stuck themselves into the "Beatlesy" category.

Which is I suppose why it's more interesting years later to listen to Blur, because they evolve and you notice all the little changes. Like any great band.

Good points, but I think Blur can sound more like The Beatles. In fact, they do. Just listen to Blur- S/T.. That thing jumps around the place musically like the White Album.

In fact, I think I will start to call it the Blurry Yellow Album.. lol

Yay blur.

I sure hope this new album is their swan song.

I meant Beatlesy as in when you listen to it you don't often think "this could be a Beatles song" or "oh they copied the Beatles for this one". It was quite an obvious thing with Oasis, and something they themselves admit.

Yeah, that's what I don't like about Oasis, bar a few pearlers (read: Champagne Supernova, Live Forever and Roll With It). Bands which are so blatant with their influences, to the point where they tell people that they are trying to do, never appeal to me. Oh wells, I guess this has turned into a bloody Oasis thread.

Lose.

Well, I'm sorry for that then. I guess it's just I like to compare the two alot because I've recently (wish I had sooner) seen the "Live Forever" documentary about the britpop scene from 91-98, it's a good movie imo. It also seems like it was one of the bigger events in british alternative rock in the 90s. (How it was all a big selling war, etc. etc.) Ofcourse I don't buy into EVERYTHING, I like both bands and quite enjoy Albarn's work with the Gorillaz. Very talented artist I think.

I like both bands but found Oasis to be more interesting just because they are like a modern version of my favorite band. I agree they basically rip the Beatles off, with almost every song being a melody from an older beatles tune. But I see it as more of an ode, especially since almost every basic rock riff was used in the Beatles at one point. Sorry for turning this into a britpop thread. (Although I am a fan of it.)

There could be a new rival however, because it seems both Blur and Oasis have new albums coming out in 2007. ;)

Yeah but how many Blur albums have you heard?

Definitely like the Gorrilaz better than Blur. I never was a fan of britpop/britrock, but I can safely say that Oasis and Blur are light years ahead of the bands that Britain comes up with these days. I did always like Song 2 though.

I probably like more Oasis songs than Blur songs, but I think Blur were the better band. I was tempted to see Oasis last time they were over here, but I heard the show was so crap that I was glad I didn't go.

I did always like Song 2 though.Didn't everybody? ;)

Song 2 is so annoying. :mryuck:

And yeah, many Oasis shows are crap because Liam hardly shows up. But when Noel does the whole set acoustic and sings Liams parts, he can really do it well.

Yeah but how many Blur albums have you heard?

Most of anything from Leisure to their self titled album in 97. I've also heard abit from 13 and Think Tank. It's good stuff, but I still like Oasis better for some reason. I guess I just like the whole "ass hole" rockstar mentality the Gallagher brothers bring with them, I find it interesting much like I find Axl Rose interesting even though he's a dick. I don't know why really. Plus, I've heard and have almost every unplugged Oasis set and they can definitely have their moments. (Liam is overrated by far. Noel's the talent of the group.)

So does anybody know when Blur's new album might come out? It says they are making a return in 2007 but it's not very specific.

Oh dude, you're missing out on their best work, get "Modern Life is Rubbish", "Parklife" and "The Great Escape" at your earliest convenience. Please?

And the new album.. Well, supposedly, it's almost finished. But I think now that Graham is back, they'll re-do a lot of the stuff. So maybe later this year?

No kidding? That's sad man. My favourite track is "Tracey Jacks"... the bassline absolutely owns me!

Different strokes, I guess.

Anyway, turns out this reunion isn't as official as we (the fans) hoped. There has been no official word from the band, and most of the members are busy with their respective projects. On top of that, Blur don't even have a record deal at the moment. Gay.

Wow, don't like Parklife? How can you not like an album with the song "End of a Century"?

She says theres ants in the carpet
Dirty little monsters
Eating all the morsels
Picking up the rubbish
Give her effervescence
She needs a little sparkle
Good morning tv
You're looking so healthy

We all say, don't want to be alone
We wear the same clothes cause we feel the same
And kiss with dry lips when we say goodnight
End of a century
Oh, it's nothing special

Sex on the tv
Everybody's at it
And the mind gets dirty
As you get closer to thirty
He gives her a cuddle
Glowing in a huddle
Good night tv
You're all made up
And you're looking like me

We all say, don't want to be alone
We wear the same clothes cause we feel the same
And kiss with dry lips when we say goodnight
End of a century
Oh, it's nothing special

Can you eat her?
Yes, you can.

We all say, don't want to be alone
We wear the same clothes cause we feel the same
And kiss with dry lips when we say goodnight
End of a century
Oh, it's nothing special

Oh, end of a century
Oh, it's nothing special

Damon Albarn is done with Gorillaz, as far as new albums go (remix albums still may come out).

Well, except for that movie with Terry Gilliam(!) attached.

Heh, sorry to bring it up again but Oasis isn't under a record label either. :p They both need to find one I suppose.
