I loved God of War, but after picking up the Devil May Cry pack, I have lost a lot of the enthusiasm I had for the second one. Still going to pick it up though. Should be pretty cool.

I hope that there are alot of new moves and gameplay features this time around. The first one is perfect, but how can they add on to it without it just being more of the same?

Those mountains and greenlands are beautiful though. I want to see more "wilderness" levels.

I loved God of War I but never got around to finishing it. I really must go back and complete it some day.

I generally don't buy games until they go down in price (greatest hits) so it will probably be a while before I play this. I will be looking forward to it though :)

And yes, the last time I saw some news about it, the PS2 is still leading the market. But, I recently looked at a list of announced PS3 games, and sure enough, God of War 3 was on there. Obviously no info at all on it yet, but I'll try to dig the link up.

I'm positive that's the reason why Sony chose to leave it on the PS2. The game is gonna sell like crazy upon release because over 100 million PS2s have been sold.

Maybe we'll see a port/remake (with awesome graphics) of it this November on the PS3 (one can always hope).

briefly on the topic of expensive gaming, it annoys me that us Aussies really get gypped when it comes to buying games. alot next of next-gen title's retail prices reach up to $120 which is absolute poo.

Hahaha, the first boss in the game looks incredibly awesome. I'm so glad they've kept with the imaginative and challenging looking boss encounters of the first game.

I just hope there are more of them.

God of War II will not only be playable on the PlayStation 3, of course, but that it will run at a true HD resolution of 720p. We're unsure as of yet whether or not we'll see additional texture detail because of this, but we'll update this section of the review when we can test it.

I tend to trust IGN more than any other review site, and they called it one of the best action games of all time and better than the original... this sounds like a must buy.

I'm very impressed with what I've seen and heard. Basically, they didn't break what already worked with their near flawless combat mechanics and improved everything else, particularly in upping the number of bossfights and varied areas.

Perfect sequel in other words.

Oh and the flying bits=Supreme.

Here's hoping it is harder than the original. GoW was pretty damn easy even on the higher difficulties, the only real challenges were these trials (Challenge of the Gods or something). Glad to see they're going to have more bosses this time around, the boss fights on the first one absolutely rocked. Hydra fight = WIN.

I finished it a day or two ago. Technically, GoW2 is a huge improvement over GoW in almost every respect; visually, it's stupendous. As I encountered each new environment I kept thinking "Can my PS2 really be doing this?" It's atmospheric to the extreme, and very few games come close to this kind of cinematic detail.

In terms of gameplay, you get everything you got in GoW with a pinch more added for good measure. Some new magic, new weapons, new combos, and a few new gameplay mechanics that - while far from new - helps GoW2 leapfrog the original.

The only aspect I felt was lacking was the story. It's not that it's bad, but the original GoW did a masterful job of combining action with a narrative that was truly tragic; and it had an art-style to its narrative sequences that seemed mostly absent in the sequel. You still get a whole lot of storyline with this entry, and GoW2 manages to have a plot even more epic than the original's, but Kratos as a character seems to take a backstage to these epic developments.

Despite that, GoW2 is an awesome game that is bigger and more epic (if slightly less personal) than the original, and I couldn't recommend it more.

they didn't need to fill in his backstory, as that was pretty well explained in the first game. In fact, what the gods did to him in the first game fuels his anger in this one. Kratos doesn't need elaborations on his character, IMO. He's an angry, vengeful, caustic person. He has no redeeming qualites save for his remorse at killing his wife/child.
