The best thing I've seen in a game recently is the bullet time in Max Payne. It's a great game mechanic that has turned it into quite a unique shooter <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">That is the only thing he said about MP, but if you want to read the whole article, its here (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/r/?domain=&feed=index&page=http://www.computerandvideogames.com/features/features_story.php?id=25033) .

Peter Molyneux is a genius IMO. Carmack may be smart, Romero might have been smart images/icons/wink.gif , but Molyneux has had many excellent ideas, is down to earth and has a non-business-only attitude that is great for the gaming community. His words is truth... images/icons/smile.gif

Nice to receive such a tip-of-the-hat from a legend of his caliber. I attended his Project Ego presentation in GDC Europe (and proceeded to shake hands with him afterwards. Yay, I have touched a legend! images/icons/grin.gif ).

The game seems mighty potential, and it also seems to avoid the problems that reduced Black & White's appeal. I'm really looking forward to it. In general, Molyneux's games differ nicely from the mass. The guy has his very own set of ideas and ideals he follows in his games.

Skaven, did you pick up this months copy of Edge, has a nice retrospective on the development of the original Populus that essenitially shows what kind of a guy Molyneux is. EG he rocks images/icons/smile.gif

Peter Molyneaux and Warren Spector are the only two brilliant minds in gamedom for whom I have the utmost respect.

I do not understand why everyone digs Molyneux so much. Sure the guy has brillliant ideas but can he make brilliant games?

IMO, nope.

"and I guess Carmack is just your average coder too. No brilliance there either"

But is Carmack a game designer, or is he focused squarely on the programming side of things? Brilliant, sure, but a game designer?

That's pretty impressive, I think...<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">The Quake 3 engine doesn't "handle" curves - just the level editor does. They get converted into polygons when the level is loaded. Probably because none of the current 3D hardware out there handles curves. images/icons/smile.gif

(and I might cornily add that I'm sure many gamers here dream of handling someone's curves... images/icons/grin.gif )
