View Full Version : Duke's waist height for teleporting...

In, let's call it "Room A", I have a teleporter. I also have several sprites that create a walkway above this little teleporter sector. If I leave the SE sprite on the ground, Duke will teleport whenever he crosses through that sector, whether he's actually stepping onto the teleporter properly (at the ground level) or running across the platform (sprites) above.

This makes sense. I then read that if the (teleporter) SE sprite is not on the ground, Duke will only teleport when the SE sprite is at his waist height.

Can someone tell me how high this should be? Eg: Do I press the "Page Up" key on the SE sprite 4 times, 5, etc???

Any help is much appreciated!!!

Cheers,

Not sure how many times you'd have to heighten the sector effector... I'd just put it up a few clicks, say 3? Put it up and just test :)

One way would be to cheat. You can make someone auto-fly-upwards if you put a horizontal blocking sprite in the sector a few clicks in the air then when duke enters the area he will rise and you can the gaurentee crossing the teleporter. Just choose a sprite that will hide well (inactive steam for example) and make it double-transparrent.

When the SE is not on the ground I think you teleport when duke actually vertically crosses the SE's height -> Duke must be moving vertically in order to trigger the SE.

I would just say that you have to experiment a bit.. like.. raise it, try to do what Mapfun says, etc.
