I wonder how many people will know what this thread is about just from the title.......well, this song alone inspired me to order the Donkey Kong Country 2 soundtrack CD.

To say that the song is one of the better video game tunes I've heard is a huge understatement.....it's quite literally the best melody I've heard in my life.


Whodathunk that a level from a 1995 SNES game with a couple monkeys flying with a spitting parot around a maze of thorns could have produced some of the finest music in existence???

Not me, that's for sure. In fact the Donkey Kong Country series has produced some of the best audio themes to this date and I doubt we'll ever hear music like that produced like that again.


Does anyone else have a game's musical score that they feel as passionately about? Speak, up and don't be ashamed!:) After all, the main theme from Chip's Challenge was my #1 fav for years!;)

Yes thats one of my fav SNES tunes as well. I captured the SPC file for listening. :) Usually Square was the only one who produced such work on the SNES, but this one was on par.

My favs would still have to be the Final Fantasy and Chrono (cross/trigger) games. I can listen to those over and over. Ultima VII also strikes some chords, but it's mostly nostalgia that makes me love that soundtrack.

Betrayal at Krondor (CD version) is also a killer soundtrack.

That's a great tune. I liked the first DK best though, the underwater tune in that one is also great.

Anyway, Turrican 2 for Amiga is one of the games with the best soundtracks ever (I think).

Another impressive one for me is Sky Sanctuary's music from Sonic & Knuckles
