Well noir means Black in french. I think images/icons/confused.gif If it does then i'm pretty sure noir writing just means like dark, gloomy writing. I'm probably wrong though.

it corrosponds more the the english word "dark" in the variety of meanings. "Film noir" is "dark film" and while the term is used for writing, the reference is to that of the style of film noir.

In French noir means both black, as in the colour, and gloomy/sad/evil/etc, thus true noir style is both gloomy, and happens entirely at night.
