View Full Version : Logging out issue

I'm not sure why it does it, but if I stay on the boards reading particularly long threads without any actual posting going on, it logs me out for no apparent reason. Any ideas why it does this?
And also my post count went down, even though I've posted more than 5 posts today. Is this due to a thread being deleted, or is it the software incorrectly reporting it?
Thanks in advance. :)

Why it's logging you out like that I have no idea. The software shouldn't time you out unless you're on a seriously long time - on the order of DAYS.
As for post count, no - your post count is not reduced if one of your posts is deleted. Software doesn't work that way.

I thought that the logout after a while of inactivity was normal  When I log in the forums at school and don't check the "remember me" box, it logs me out automatically after not clicking for ~30min
^Same here, I thought this was a precaution. Strange things going on.

Yeah, but I got the impression the problem dictated above was quicker than 30 minutes.

I find it always does this to me if I leave the site for any period of time, or not clicking for 5-10 minutes. If I login and check "remember me" the problem is solved.

5-10 minutes here, and all the cache problems where you need to clear your cache really dosn't help the problem either..

I'll try the `remember me' function and see what happens when I haven't posted, or even clicked for a while.
The post count isn't a real issue since I'm not trying to rack it up like a p0St w4Ore :p, but I have seen it do it before and I can postively remember reading it both times correctly, knowing I didn't imagine the count as wrong. Very strange. :o

I have to re-logon several times a night but not when I'm at work. It does this on another forum too but only on my home machine. I think some kind of malware did this to me and I'm going to have to live with it until I reinstall. I have also noticed the problem isn't consistent, every now and then it will go away for a week.
