That sounds pretty good! I sent a email to birger to see if the music can be
officially incorporated into winrottgl. (Also sent download link).

yeah.. i sampled it with my favorite and i think best sound card in the world SB Audigy 4 with huge and high quality SondFont's v.2.0 (2.1) and hoped someone liked it... thanks. However, i may be able to resample and rework songs to better sounding! Please write what did you liked in instruments overall and music itself and what not... post here. :)

I think guitars and bass guitars sounds good, but for strings im a little confused how it sounds however... but im be able to correct this. And something wrong with volume level in instuments! Someone's sounds good, someone a little loudly and softly... i think there is need to work with songs a little, to correct my errors.:(

downloading. i`ll give my opinions on it later :)

[edit] soundquality is very good, strings sound good too its just the saw lead and that other lead thta sound a bit flat IMHO.

btw, you did ask bobby and lee for thier permission to re-sample this?

first off, i didn't resample songs, i've mistaken, all i do is just set a soundfont bank and make it sound better, thats all! and i think i dont need to ask him to do that :) because its totally free i think

the music is part of the game, the game is not free. so you`d best check with the authors to be sure, they are nice guys and they O.Ked this type of thing for DN3D if i remember correctly.

you might have set a fontbank, but you distributed the MP3 files and not the soundfont.

Um... Midis from ROTT are available in many places...

Anyway, WHY, oh WHY MegaUpload? It NEVER works for Poland and I can't download it...

Could someone put it up on Rapidshare or any other file hosting site?

Raziel-chan: yes you right, but *MIDI* files not mp3 files available in many places... (maybe) :) this is my work in converting *.mid songs to *.mp3 songs.

Um... Okay, if you say so...

Anyway, I beg you: Could anyone please upload it to a different file hosting service? For Poland Megaupload is constantly unavailable.

just because something is available easily does not mean its free, or legal :p i`d just e-mail them to be sure.

You could probably use a better square wave sound, but other than that it sounds great!

It took some listens to get used to the mp3 files sounding a bit different, but now I never listen to the midi files anymore... :D Someone should convert all great midi soundtracks to mp3!

How about the Raptor music?? That game had a really nice soundtrack too... And Duke Nukem 3D had some great songs as well... And Wacky Wheels... Now that you've convinced me that you can make really good mp3 files out of midis you owe me to do it with every game! =P

Ok, listened to a few tracks and many of them sound very good but still have quite a synthetic/midi tone, but the higher quality samples is a nice change and works quite well. Some tracks like BossBlow sound too loud though. Classic themes are well preserved, definately building upon what were already brilliant midi compositions. I've done similar things with some of my favourite midi music, most often it just ends up sounding very synthetic so you really did a better job than me.

I think something similar to the PSX arrangements of the Duke 3D music for Rise of the Triad would be awesome.

Not too shabby. Like others have said some instruments are sub-par, but generally it sounds much better than Microsoft's Wavetable GS!

I used those in the most recent version of WinrottGL and they really sound great in action :)

Where do I put the mp3 files when I want to use them with WinROTTGL?

*EDIT*
Ah, nevermind. It is quite self-explanitory. You can choose by yourself! :)

How did you get it to work?

when you start winrottgl just go up to file and click on settings then sound.

Perhaps the midi's would sound better if they were played on a real sound canvas, then recorded to MP3? I've got a sound canvas sc-8850, and the midi's sound better than those. If only the creators of winrott and winrottgl would fix the external midi out issues, I'd be set. Hardware beats software "soundfonts" hands down every time.

I play all of my MIDI game music using Yamaha S-YXG50 on all of my computers. It sounds good enough that I generally don't use "high quality music packs" for games. Perhaps you could use this?

Have you tried using that midi device with either winrott or winrottgl? Anytime I try, I get that "guid download" error. winrott and winrottgl are the only games that do that, everything else works. Same result for using a Sound Canvas SC-55.

WinRott/WinRottGL are far too bug-ridden for me to even use (no computer I own will run either.) I'd try working on getting it to a semi-usable state, but my programming skills just aren't at that level yet. The Icculus port is the only one that works, and not without it's own issues, unfortunately (S-YXG50 does work with it.)
