It crashes with standard Windows crash dialog. I have searched other forums/web for any solution and can't find any. Running it on XP SP2 Home... any idea? I've tried compat. modes. I even renamed the 3dfx DLL to .dll.bak cause sometimes that causes issues with older games, but no dice.

My first guess is that it's some kind of Driver/videocard issue. Maybe there's a patch for the demo? Probably not. I would also try using the most simple kind of sound option.

No patch.

I read some people have used nHancer and tweaked an Extension Limit value, I just tried that and it hasn't solved anything. I even installed older drivers. This seriously pisses me off.

I am thinking, if there is a command line parameter to dump the startup console text to a text file (it uses Quake 3 engine), that might show any problems. I looked for such a command - there is 'condump' but I have no idea how to use it in the target shortcut (since I can't actually access the games console menu myself).

Its a faulty setting in nvidias Mohaa game profile

I had a similar problem and it is was caused by something (who knows what) that Nvidia have done. You need to uninstall the latest drivers, then install forceware 81.98. Then after you've restarted you can reinstall the latest drivers. you may not need to install drivers as old as 81.98, but they are the ones i used and the problem resolved.

The problem I had, and most likely the same in your case, is definately something caused by the later versions of Nvidia's drivers. I went as far as a complete format and reinstall of XP to narrow down the problem and this soultion fixed it.

Let me know if it resolves your problem because after having installed Vista which i need to have for my job, the same problem maifests itself, but there are no drivers old enough to correct it on Vista so I need some extra evidence to get nvidia to locate the cause of this problem.

I personally used that suggestion from the Nvidia User To User Forum However if that dosn't work
heres the full thread, for other suggestions on the matter..
