The possibility for this, and many other "reality" shows has crossed my mind a number of times in the past, but I never really gave it any deep thought until yesterday when I heard that Simon, the Sith Lord of judges, actually kissed a contestant. It has to be one of the most unprecedented things ever to happen in the history of television. Whether "Simon" is real or just a personality on a show, it's completely out-of-character, and I can't see this as anything other than a publicity stunt to boost ratings. I can't help but wonder if American Idol which claims to be a modern day "Star Search" is no more real than a Wrestlemania pay-per-view. Are contestants really in a battle for supremacy or are they all just acting? Is everything happening in the show actually scripted? Do the viewer votes really count?
