Anybody know if there are going to be other games that will be using the Max-FX engine? I think it's one of the best out there.... If not THE best... images/icons/smile.gif

The last I heard they were not going to licence the engine to anyone

yeah about 10x times its market price I bet images/icons/wink.gif

No, they'll license it to anyone who pays for it. I'm assuming it's not cheap though.

The Max-FX engine is not being licensed at the moment.

A lot of modders say the engine isn't so good. Hitman 2: Silent Assassin's Glacier engine will be much better.

The graphics looks way too clean, there's no realism in them. It's like comparing MOH:AA and Ghost Recon, where GR wins clearly...

biXen, please retract the statement before I flame you to little girl's tears! Hitman 2 will rule, you foolish fool! Do not diss Hitman! images/icons/mad.gif graemlins/tinyted.gif

bs mohaa is a very good game. Graphically GR beats it 100-0

I'd like to point out that graphics depend as much, if not even more on the artists than the engine. If the artists suck, the graphics suck no matter how good the engine. If the artists rule, the game can look good no matter how poor the engine is (within reason, of course; I prefer having more than 2x2 pixels and 2 colors to work with images/icons/smile.gif ).

Hitman was an outstanding game. I am looking forward to the sequel.

skaven: so true. Although the more polygons the engine can push to the screen the more freedom does the graphics artists have. (me thinks)

What the hell are you talking about? MOHAA looks [I]way[/B] better than GR.

The Viper

no it doesn't

The nature looks amazing, and it doesn't look like it's built from squares like MOH:AA does. MOH:AA's strength is in the tiny AI changes and good missions, not the graphics. No sane person will say that GR looks worse than MOH:AA, we get that confirmed by Xeno, which sure as hell isn't sane images/icons/grin.gif

I liked Hitman, I'll probably like Hitman 2, but no, the game isn't better than Max Payne (it's to wussish), the graphics look weird, or rather, the graphics look too much like they were made on the computer, compared to e.g. Max or GR. The textures in Hitman are dreaful, the photorealistic textures in Max makes everything seem more realistic...

sawn_off: and I don't think your threats do any good except give us all a good laugh images/icons/grin.gif

Ooh, look at me! I'm making people happy! I'm the magical man from Happyland, in a gumdrop house on Lollipop Lane! [walks out, slams door, then sticks head back in] Oh, by the way: I was being sarcastic.

Max Payne's engine is clearly worse than Hitman's. It didn't even have physics. The only difference was Max Payne had really nice lighting.

True. Hitman's engine is groundbreaking.

The only new or good thing in Hitman's engine was the physics, the physics which made deadbodies look like rag dolls after they were dead. That can't overdo Max Payne which looks and plays like a God, Hitman is wavy in the controls and can't compare to the camerause in Max Payne, which is awesome, either. Now, go see that eyespecialist then come back later...

The Viper

what exactly does controls and camera use have to do with the engine?

And dead bodies in hitman looked damn convincing to me. Maybe it's you who needs glasses images/icons/wink.gif

It seems clear to me that you've never seen a dead body, OR you have never turned on the slow-mo in hitman... without the slowmo the game was deadboring I might add. One shot in the foot makes the bodies practically dance in the air, now I've never even seen that in movies. Maybe it's something that happens a lot up there in Finnegan land though...

And simply put, with those crappy ass textures and bad lighting you can't even compare Hitman to MP anyway...

The Viper

excuse me not being the international hitman that you apparently are. BUT in my honest opinion you can't compare the character animations in hitman and in Max. Hitman is just superior in that aspect.

And yes max is still much better game than hitman was. Looks much better too.

ok, it's much better to have predefined animations and bodies that go stick when you shoot 'em. Whatever...

The bodies in Hitman did move like rag dolls.. they flung everywhere.. It had nice physics in the fact that the bodies could fall of ledges realistically but when they are on the ground and you drag then... their feet could poke out your eyes.
