I can only imagine what will happen when a trailer is released.

Bit surprised I have to remind my own staff of this, but..

The server is downed twice daily for about 2 minutes or so for a sql dump of the db. If you try and connect during that time, you're going to get errors. It's done at 12:02PM & 4AM local time daily.

I know about the server pause that happens at about 6:02pm GMT every evening (so Texas must be GMT-6), which still manages to surprise me now and then when I try to view a page and it justs sits there loading for ages (I can almost set my clock by it :p), but there was another, bigger crash later this evening -- not sure what time, but probably about 7-8pm GMT (couldn't have been much later as I was playing Stalker :D), where I couldn't reach the 3D Realms server at all, even by pinging! It seemed to come back on a while later. Pretty sure it wasn't a problem at my end (certainly no problems reported on the router)... anything to report, Joe? :o

Wow, do not remember that at all, sorry. Anyway, look at the time stamp on my post (Central time) - 11:06 AM. I'm sure I posted that within a minute of getting the error(5 mins at worst). Doesn't come anywhere close to the scheduled times.

Maybe you can change the message to describe that there is a sql dump in action. Or if its the same error....

The server is too busy.

If the time just now is around 1102CST or 0300CST (UTC - 0600), this error is most likely due to our timely sql dump of the database.

Thank you. Please try again later.

In Texas, just now you're in CDT, right? But CST is just one hour behind as GMT(UTC) is one hour behind BST in the UK.

Maybe at those times you could have it intelligently display the sql message part.

While I technically can change the message, I won't. That's because that error can come up for any number of reasons. Not just that issue.

Yeah. The suggestion was that you could possibly give that as more background information, so if it is either of those times gives the user some feedback. Also I thought you could probably write a script of some kind to get the time.

But was just a suggestion.
