Now that's what I call widescreen -- but do you have your desktop extended over two monitors, which don't necessarily have the same resolution? Or are these two shots of the same screen at different times? :eek:

Edit: no, hang on, the task bar is along the left-hand screen, and that thing at the bottom of the right-hand screen is a window that's almost out of view!

My 2 monitors are 1440 x 900 each, for total of 2880 x 900. You need to create 1 wide wallpaper at the total resolution (for me, 2880 x 900). Then set it to "tile" and it fits both (it doesn't actually tile).

left one has a 21" sony multiscan G500 and right one 19" compaq s920, both CRT.
I like to keep the desktop icon-free, they are located in the start menu bar instead (Työpöytä = desktop).
And to a huge suprise, I still have IRC in fullscreen on the second monitor.

btw, are there any programs that you can use to apply different wallpapers to each monitor ? I know that I could use the span system but I hate when stuff maximize to the whole area rather than one screen.

If you have an nVidia card they have some utility in it's control panel so that Windows will maximize to either 1 or both monitors (whether by default or double clicking an extra button) - I think it was called keystone or something... it worked great for me in earlier drivers but latest its tad slow.

Ultramon (http://realtimesoft.com/ultramon/) is a good for that, albeit rather pricey. It also supports separate screensavers on each monitor, and individual taskbars for each monitor (which could also be done with this (http://www.mediachance.com/free/multimon.htm) freebie).

Another one! I'm thinking of setting up a poll to find out how many of you have a dual monitor setup. The options would be "Yes, I'm a total geek with two monitors and more money than sense!" and "No, I'm sensible and only have one monitor, like all decent law-abiding people!" :p

A more useful poll might be what ratio screen people have -- I've got 16:10 and Phait seems to have 32:10 :tinyted:, but how about everyone else? Remember that 1280x1024 is technically 5:4, not 4:3. I imagine an increasing shift to widescreen, be it 16:10, 16:9, 8:3 (two normal monitors side-by-side) or whatever... how hard is it to find decent wallpapers for all these different ratios?

I think I've found my new desktop... taken from a screenshot of CoD4.... awww.... an amazing sequence. But it would be a spoiler for anyone who hasn't played the game. So I'm not gonna post it here.
