I finally have a computer able to run this well, but I've found that it's absolutely loaded with cheaters. :( I see people blatantly speed hacking, snipers with no fog hacks and aim bots killing me across the map, people able to throw grenades with perfect aim, planes with no fog that ALWAYS find a way to get behind me, etc. If there is an admin, he mostly talks with friends and doesn't seem to mind the rampant cheating.

I am disgusting by both the single player bot AI and the multiplayer cheats. Is there any good server, probably private, that anyone here knows about? I just want to play a match or two. If BF2/BF2142 are like BF1942 in regards to cheating, I won't even get them. I might even stick to playing Zdaemon, since at least that community is very clean, or maybe RPGs.

I haven't played for a while.. but gennerally I try to get people I know, either from the net like here, or friends I meet in person to play with me.. Or familly for that matter..

Boomtown usually have reasonable players, atleast the servers I've bumbed into..
Although I haven't played on boomtown servers for a while, so I don't know if they still host BF1942 servers or if they just host BF2142 servers..

Maybe there aren't as much cheaters as you might think. A lot of the people left playing this game today are those that have been playing it regularly for about half a decade. Don't expect to hop in and instantly own everyone. And even if you've played it for a while this will happen a lot. BF games have always been a particularly convenient playground for the truly obsessed that ruin the fun for normal people.

If I play bf1942 these days, I practically always play the Desert Combat mod. It's superior to vanilla bf1942 in any conceivable way (and also in many ways better than BF2, imo). You might want to give it a try.

Hmm, maybe I should reinstall BF1942 and give D.C. another spin.. it's been a while ;)

I suspect cheating when I'm prone, firing in bursts at someone in the back, and he suddenly (as in instantly) turns around and blasts at me Rambo style with a submachine gun and I die in just a second. This happens at relatively far distances, too. There seems to be no accuracy penalty for them. I rarely see "intelligent" playing and positioning, but I lose to players who play the game like it's Quake.

I also see people driving tanks and hum vees faster than I can push them. Speed hacks are very common, and no one seems to care anymore. Here is a page about all the stuff that goes on.
