Any one of them are tru ugly on girls, and not very femi.
Why not a small butterfly on the bikiniline?
;)
Well I don't like tattoos but I'd go for T14. T1 is too small, and T8 is an ugly piece of shit, so that leaves T14 :o

I don't have any... and will never get one. I design them for friends, but that's as far as I go.
With my social anxiety I couldn't let somebody touch me long enough to do a tattoo.
And Raiden, I'm not a fan of any of those designs. They all look like the same, dull, tribal crap everyone has because it looks cool.
Try and think of something specific, something that means something to you... something important. Don't go for a design just because it's cool. Look for something that represents you.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. However going for something you 'love' isn't always a good idea.. After a while you could end up not loving it anymore, but you still have the tattoo, so... shit! :o

I agree. It's the "look at me! I'm a modern savage" look. Especially T-13, which seems to be the favorite tramp stamp of porn actresses everywhere. Or . . . so I've heard. :D
The only thing worse than a tramp stamp is a NECK tattoo.

Dave Navarro has a good point when asked if he'd ever remove or fix over any of his tattoos, he basically said he would never change/remove them because they are are a part or memory in his life, and you should own the moment, own the memory. He also had a snake tattoo done that at the time was his view of the world but mentioned that since he has matured, it's since meant that one should continue evolving as a human (emotionally/mentally I'm sure).
That said, I don't have any and some have mentioned I should do tattoo design, but I'm not an artist. I'd like to get a variety of tats eventually but most would be my own design and with meaning behind them. I too don't like a lot of the trendy/fashionable stuff.
Also very interesting story here I found while trying to actually find a quote for my point above:
http://www.starpulse.com/news/index.php/2006/10/05/dave_navarro_explains_powerful_tattoo
Heavily tattooed rocker Dave Navarro was inspired to get a unique tattoo after sitting next to a woman on a plane who showed him her concentration camp markings. The ex-Jane's Addiction guitarist was so moved, he decided to pay permanent tribute to the stranger.
He says, "I was on an airplane with a woman looking at my tattoos and she said, 'I have a tattoo, but not by choice.' And she rolled up her sleeve and showed me the numbers on her arm. She had been in Auschwitz.
"Her name was Rose, and I got this tattoo to commemorate her. It says 'I Have One But Not By Choice' and there's a picture of a rose. It's the most powerful one I have."

I still don't understand the appeal of getting a tattoo, but to each their own. The permanent nature of it certainly turns me off on the idea of ever getting one. I just know that the majority of tattoos I've seen rarely seem worth being installed in the first place.

Butterfly on the bikiniline let me think of some pr0n actress. :p
but if Raiden is good looking, and she does, i vote for the butterfly too or 2 or 3 cat paw marks. :) The suggested tribal tattoos are for my taste a little bit aggressive. I prefer more organic tribal tattoos . No i don't have one myself. :)

I think it's not much different than jewelry, it's a kind of expression but much more literal. Perhaps the appeal for others depends on the motivation behind getting the tattoo.

I agree with the general sentiment here that a tribal tattoo is not the way to go. Get something meaningful to you, or don't get anything at all.
I also think that we're approaching a time we'll have a generation of fogies regretting all of the ugly ink on their body.

DavoX
07-25-2007, 02:41 PM
It is idiotic. Raiden should get the tattoo she wants and not care a damn crap about anything anyone here says.
But if she's asking here for opinions then it could mean that she's doing it for a trendy thing or because she cares too much what people think, if that's the case then don't get anything at all.
Well no, I think she just wants a second opinion on what looks the nicest. It's not like she came up here with an entire page of tattoos and said "pick one", she already narrowed it down to three that she liked.. And now she needs some other opinions because she can't pick. That's fine with me.
Keep in mind that a tattoo is permanent, so asking for other people's opinions with this is a good thing. Don't want to end up with a butt-ugly thing that nobody likes.

six gabazillion years ago Tribals used it to "decorate" their body. What's the point of decorating when it's butt ugly? ;) Really though, what a tattoo is for depends on your own view on things. Sure it can be for some personal meaning, some might just want one because it makes them look nicer.

In the past, perhaps, but the trend is so mainstream now with cookie-cutter tattoos, they rarely mean or express anything in terms of the individual. It seems a lot of people get a tattoo just for the sake of having one.
I think if I ever get a tattoo, I'll get one that simply reads, in Times New Roman, "TATTOO".

I think the human body looks fine without putting graffiti all over it. I know I'd prefer a sexual partner who has a pure natural look without anything to corrupt that. Doing something deep and meaningful may be fair enough as a reason, but then again, you could just hang a picture on your bedroom wall or something. And then you don't have to burn the image off when you want to get rid of it. :)

I've thought about getting one.. My brother has one, our familys last name in a strait line down the back..

I think it is a good idea to get one thats meaningful, and something that represents me, but I'm not 100% on the tribal ones cause I want to BE SURE of what I want, so I'm going to think about it and do more research :)
But I also have been fond of the angel wings on the shoulders, I'm just not into the girly things like butterflys and roses, just not my style.
Huge angel wings as a first tattoo? Dunno.. Might want to wait with that a while and start with some smaller ones.

I honestly think you shouldnt get one.
But if you do.
Really think if you want that tattoo when your old.
Nothing like being asked whos foghat 10 years down the road.
Also some things to consider
1.You risk of getting hepatitis.
There has to be some truth to it,the red cross wont take blood from those just sticked.
2.As you age that tattoo will gradually get more gross looking.
3..Spend the few hundred dollars from a reputable professional.
Instead of some greasy convict who charges a fraction of the price and uses dirty needles for a prison tattoo.
Usually amateurs are cheap and you get what you pay for.

It's just stupid to ask for opinions about something when you know everyone has different perspectives.
Definitely think about it for a while. Instead of looking for a tattoo and deciding if you like it, come up with an idea and find a tattoo based on that, or if you know a good artist ask them to try drawing one of your ideas out for you to see and judge with your own eyes. And don't forget the importance of size. Some tattoo's look great small but terrible big or the other way around. Make sure it's just right for where you get it. And good luck on getting what you want :)

That could be applied to anything since opinion always plays a role in every decision a person makes.

Nice tats. ignore the nay-sayers, do what is right for you. Go for somewhere that it is easily concealed, perhaps ankle, butt, hip, inner thigh, lower shoulder. I always think a nice tattoo can be sexy, adds a little spice to the person having it. Go to a reputable shop and ask to see photos of their work.

Best advice i can give you is first, forget the off the wall stuff. If you know a tattoo artist you can trust sit down with them. The ones i know can draw really well and work out something you want on your body. The tattoo is as much a reflection of the artist as it is of you. Find something that has meaning to you, have them draw it, work out what you want, how big, and where. Then get the tattoo.
If you dont know any tattoo artists ask your friends, ask around, get recommendations. When my friends get tattoos or piercings its by people they know and trust with years of experience in the industry. Dont just walk into a shop and let anyone work on you. Your going to over pay, and there is no guarantee of quality.

Imo that's the best one can do... Because an Original Tatoo is muuuch cooler...
People have often asked me if i'd make tatoos for them, but damnit, they should tell me what they'd like, not just say "make up something, i don't care"... they won't get anything out of me like that, because the worst part of drawing (in my case) is making up something, and deciding how it should look...
Anyways, It's not like all artists are like that, haha... Some people are bursting-full of crativity, and always have something cool in thier mind...

That's what I've been thinking as I've read this thread. A tattoo is an extremely personal and permanent decision. Choose something that you like, not what someone else approves of. The only caveat is to think ahead and decide whether it will affect your carer in any way in the future. Who cares if people think it's unoriginal drivel? Personally, I hate lower back tattoos, but I'm not about to tell someone what they should get done or not. If it means something to you (or even if it just looks cool and has no meaning) I say go for it. Just be careful in your decision. Don't get yourself stuck with something you'll be tired of in a few years.
DavoX
07-30-2007, 09:13 PM
Actually you can't get tired of it, you get used to it eventually and you'll feel strange without it. I think people take some of them out because of other reasons like tattooing the name of an ex, a band you no longer like anymore ,etc.

07-31-2007, 09:48 AM
My suggestion is, when you finally "decide" on one, wait at least two weeks to get it, while looking at it and others everyday. Things have a tendancy to grow stale. Give yourself at least some opportunity to tire of it (which is less likely to happen with a truly meaningful tat).
You misinterpreted my post.
Didn't mean to. I read it again, and I think I see your point. You're saying that when you're old, what does anything matter, you're just waiting to die anyway. I think my misinterpretation of your post is more flattering.

You're either a tats person or you're not. The ones who opine about removal-down-the-road are the ones who most likely wouldn't get one in the first place. If you really want a tat, listen only to your feelings about whether you want one and what image appeals to you emotionally at the time. Other people's blather is only going to confuse the issue and perhaps steer you towards a regrettable conclusion such as picking something that isn't you.
Oh and anyone who gets Kanji words without genuinely knowing what they mean is a tool of the highest order.
