Besides. Max grabbed the tape of "One-Eyed-Alfred" and Candy Dawn or "collateral". So if Woden didn't wipe Max's slate clean, Max could show 'em the tape. regardless of what Max Payne has of Alfred, I don't feel that the story will be anywhere as good as this ones.

Think about it, what in the hell is he gonna do after he gets out? Vigilante style? He already avenged his kid and wife's death. What now? He's gonna do it, cuz it's the right thing? Nah I don't think that makes a good story.

Max Payne never went out looking for trouble, trouble went looking for him. (Boy that sounded silly images/icons/tongue.gif ) What that means is a lot of enemies will be mad at Max for killing their partners and such, so they might go and try to take him out. Plus, Vladmir is still alive and Mona may still be living. I'm pretty sure Mona survived, otherwise she could just come back as a super human mutant cyborg coming back for revenge. graemlins/tinyted.gif

They always find loopholes to continue the story's. I found one in T2, Arnold's arm was left in that crusher, probably some parts there they can use. There's always ways images/icons/grin.gif

The arm obviously has advanced gyro/hydraulic/electric capabilities, and it wasn't totally crushed. Doesn't really matter though, cause something like this will happen someday anyway, someone will get the technology to get the Robots walking and using balance like we do, and we'll get Mechs, Ed-209, Terminators and the shit images/icons/grin.gif

If there is a second Payne he will probably start off in prison, then do a fugitive type escape. He didn't exactly collect any evidence, the quote "collecting evidence had gotten old a few hundred bullets back" says it all. Woden will probably dissapear (Max could sort him out later). Max will get out, meet up with Vladimir and discover that all he did in his first outing was just a small part of the whole V thing, and a lot of people (cue some new psycho boss) want him dead. Therefore, the golden rule with all sequals, there will a much higher body count. images/icons/grin.gif

As already said Payne will be milked for all its worth - i'm dreading the film - but we can hope that the follow on games will be as good as the first.

I wouldn't mind having the whole 'mayor' angle covered a little more. Having him assasinated for declaring a 'war on Valkyr' seems a little underrated. I'm sure there could be an interesting sub-plot in there.

And with a product as popular as Valkyr, I'm sure someone will continue distributing it. images/icons/wink.gif Why Max will care, I don't know, but it's a start.

The question is, what would be Max's motivation? He's killed everyone that had a hand in killing his wife and Kid? Remember, once the bitch was dead, he dropped his Colt commando.

Max being arrested is another thing. They hold him for 48 hours and let him go. Who are the witness's? He's killed everyone and he wasn't armed when they arrested him.

Didn't bother to read the whole thread but, if there's a Max Payne 2 I think it should be,

A) Three or four years in the future. Max could have spent some time in jail or something. It could briefely be explained how he got out, but other than that, the story wouldn't have anything to do with MP 1.

B) Three or four years in the past. Maybe when Max first went undercover or something.

What Omar said in his first post, it wouldn't make any sense to continue the story directly after he as arrested.

Ok yea payne needs 2 make a multiplayer engine the sequals will come but i find it hard to beleive that they will match up to the first it realy kicks ass but thats the problem oher than a expantion i cant see it being improved, other than the multiplayer aspect the graphics are sweet the sound it brill the storyline gets a 9.9/10 but its gona deterierate. Look at toumb raider was huge wen it first came out the second and third were just as good but not brilliant the forth went downhill got too complicated and the fith is gona be total bum fluff images/icons/tongue.gif the only way the story could continue 4 me is either do a 4 years in the past (already mentioned) or just give it some sort of expantion e.g. escapes from prison finds out that the woman at the top of the top security headquarters he somehow managed 2 infiltrate wasnt the only boss and has 2 kill another 1 ok this is a bit repetative but hey it would add 2 the kills. Also maybe a bit more realism has ne1 else noticed that if they just stopped the lift while max was in it with no way out he would be a sitting duck i mean how many people are stupid enough to let 1 guy with a colt commando jackhammer and M79 get all the way through a building like that its just mad - yea ok so u accept that the game has to progess somehow but couldnt he have got half way in by going undercover or something or gaining acces codes to stop cameres before he went anywere like in a lift if u had to do this they wouldnt know u were in the lift and therefore wouldnt stop it however in the present situation they must see u in the lift (supposing this high security building has a few cameres here and there) and think ahh our guy will get him at the other end blam blam o bugger look at thet he killed my head of security suprise suprise anyway i should have posted this as a new subject realy but just felt like typing alot _Megla

hmm, maybe we can put the revenge story back on mp2 but now it's max's brother, his brother yeah, max hear that his brother is in big trouble, he started to make deals with the syndicate, now the syndicate want to kill him, because he cheated them .. maybe that can be a start. so max payne is back on buisness to help his brother. um or who knows they already killed his brother so max starts again a 1 men war again the syndicate, the syndicate is the real org. behind V. and this can keep the story on..

I agree that there shouldn't be a Max Payne sequel (at least not one where you play as Max, although then the title wouldn't make much sense). I feel the game should've ended with Max ending his pain by throwing himself off the building before being arrested. Don't get me wrong, I think his character is great but that's how I saw it ending. The man had nothing more to live for after avenging the death of his loved ones and was probably about to be sentenced to death anyways.
Of course, most gamers would rather have Max return no matter how cheesy the plot they come up with and the developers, publishers, etc want him back so they can milk the ca$$$h cow one more time. I'll be honest though, being a hardcore gamer no matter what I'll play the sequel too and probably really enjoy it. I just think it would've been better to carry on that style of game with a fresh new character.

Max is in prison, Woden is trying to get him out, Max past as a cop is now open knowledge but he was convicted to life because of the body count and he'd probably be killed in prison but now he's become a Keyser Soze himself after wiping out a large part of the mob- a spook story. But Max knows the attack on his life will come. He just doesn't know who. He's working out all alone in the gym when his own prison guards attack. Max beats them, grabs a rifle, escapes and that's just the introduction.

A year later he's with the russian and he's still tracking down valkyr and somebody else who is making it. He hears of Valkyr 2 on the streets, a more potent version of the drug and it becomes a race against time to stop it.

Him fighting for the good of the country? NO THX. We have enough heroes, we need some anti-heroes. Max was the perfect one.

1. He killed people remorselessly.
2. He wanted revenge, and the best kind, not some panzy ass LETS GET HER CUZ YOUNG KIDS ARE KEELING EECH OTHER^.^!!
3. He shot Lupino when he went down, thas awesome.

Honestly, I don't see why Max would get off in the first place. Everyone he killed wasn't guilty. Those security guards? Cold blooded murdor. The suits? I don't think they all killed someone. The police letting him go because Wooden aks them? NO THX. Like I said, the plot will be contrived, unless it's a prequel. I'm really not looking forward to MP2, like I was looking to MP.

Don't give me crap about Vladmir wanting to get rid of V. He probably profits just as much as Punchinello did. Remember, Vladmir's hands aren't kleen either.

Only thing I see is that some partner of Punchinello or Horne wanting revenge. But that is so cliche~ Being original was all about MP (style/graphics of game, the bullet time etc).

ANYWAYS, GG 3drealms, Doom III is around the corner:( Nothing will be able to compete with it until DoomIV. It's going to be to FPS's what StarCraft was to RTS's. THere has been no RTS able to compete with SC at all. Just look at the progamers in Korea. No other game has that kind of publicity anywhere.
