I knew this kid in high school, as he was in the same graduating class that I was (2006). We would usually talk every now and then but I'm in shock now that I've heard he's dead. Its made the major news in Philadelphia as the top story of the day.

Kutztown Student Murdered

A Kutztown University student was beaten to death on a downtown sidewalk early Friday by three men who evidently chose their victim at random, police said.

The suspects, all from Allentown, were charged with assaulting Kyle Quinn, 19, who was pronounced dead at a hospital about an hour after the attack. The district attorney said he anticipated filing homicide charges pending the results of an autopsy scheduled for Saturday.

Kutztown's president, F. Javier Cevallos, called the beating a "senseless isolated random act of violence" and urged students to be vigilant.

I mean, it was a senseless beating from 3 drunk idiots. Reminds me of how fragile life is sometimes.

Rest In Peace, Kyle.

Thats the kind of thing that really makes you worry about the people you know. One day they are fine, the next some dick who was looking for trouble kills them for no real reason.

eh, that's life pretty much in general. your only guarantee is that you will die, just in most cases the time and place are unknown. GB, sorry about your friend, it is always a shock to lose someone, especially when young. just as you get older it happens more and more frequently, not that it ever gets any easier...

That never bothers me, it bothers me more about others dying. Thats just how I am.

That sucks; I am also from the High school class of 2006. I am now forced to think about myself and my own classmates. How fragile life is indeed.

I imagine your high school will have some sort of memorial or something right?

I now realise it too as one of the guys from my old high school died in a motorcycle accident. He was riding tandem and the rider was speeding. Crashed into a truck and the driver lived. Edwin died. Quite sad. Although i do believe in karma and he was a strange guy, maybe he deserved it. Its still tragic. I feel for his family.
