Dome lights in metro stations? Interactive squash courts? Walls coming alive and the advertisement pillars of the future?

That's awesome! A subway ride will never be the same again :D

One day, someone is going to hack the screen on some prominent building and put up porn. It will happen, mark my words.
This does open up some possibilities, I mean, you could make whole streets like this. Traffic will never be the same, accidents will sky rocket, but who cares, you can watch TV while waiting for them to clear up the 50 car pile up.

Accidents? No problem! Just change the markings on the road ;)

...if they'd concider replacing certain sections with this, that might become a very viable solution.

This is an interesting idea, except that I generally hate anything that gives greater potential for intrusive advertising :mryuck:

^ Yeah, but this could be used for many things more. Very interesting.

Assuming they've textured already in the first place :p. It looks neat but I don't know if it will really catch on. How much more money will it cost than a simple poster ad? Will it generate enough interest/return to justify the purchase?

It will be possible to make a wall look like it disappears
as on command.

Oh it's worse than advertising:

Imagine a message on an otherwise blank wall that flashes on for 1/50th of a second every second:

OBEY THE GOVERNMENT... OBEY THE GOVERNMENT... OBEY THE GOVERNMENT...

Funny it should take a picture of Davros to make me think of that :P

As it uses light fiber's and they conduct light artificial or natural with no need of electric current you could be able to see the street trough your wall if the sun was chining directly on it, very cool stuff. This could be used in a shopping mall also to shown some water falls in a wall. The applications are huge.

the applications have a lot of potential but its not quite as simple as you describe. Something still has to be there to generate an image that is transmitted through the light fibers embedded in the concrete. I don't really see it being used in a mall. the idea with concrete is for unsecured locations. Malls should not have that need.

This really isn't that new.. fiber-optics effects in concrete has been done enough times, making a video screen out of it is a logical next step.
