We have snow here right now. Though with the current temperatures it's not going to be here long. But I've wrote my name in it already, so I don't need it anymore. :p

Got some snow here now, and seems like it should accumulate upwards of about 6 - 12" in the eastern areas of NE Ohio, but dustings to 3" in the western end of things around here. Seems like that's pretty good that we are going to be quiet in the weather department for Thanksgiving, tho.

Right, the snow that fell a few days ago is a shadow of its former self here, safe for traveling tomorrow, as far as I see it.

Hardly any snow this year. That's not normal for Calgary. Must be global warming. We've had a few cold days, but very little snow.

It's been a little colder than usual this year in SW Florida. That is, it hasn't hit 80 in about a month. Nothing below 50 yet.

(I'm not flaming I swear)

Northern Florida has fallen below freezing a few nights, but no snow no far this year. It's actually good when it doesn't snow here, because otherwise, the orange crop freezes/dies and juice prices go up (even more).

Up here in Skellefteå we have had snow since sometime in November. It's getting closer to half a meter thick now. This is the first time I can recall the first snow lasting all the way. It usually comes and goes a few times before it turns into real winter. It started melting a couple of weeks a ago but only for a day or two so only lost about 1 cm before it got colder again. It's so freaking dark up here without snow not to metion melting snow just results in ice so it's better when it stays below 0C.

Christmas eve tends to be the magic day when you can say for sure there will be snow and it won't go away again. A couple of times where the snow didn't come until the night before but on the morning of 24th it's always white up here (at least a bit further north (Luleå) where I grew up and lived until last year).

Here is a snow depth map of sweden for anyone interested. Suprised how widespread the snow coverage is.

I'm in New York City. I would think the roads are fine by now in the entire state, the most we got is about a foot and they are out the night before salting and plow as the storm goes. On the major roads I don't think you'll have any problems. It is cold as hell right now though, was 13 degrees here today.

It's so weird remembering how when I lived in New England for five years, I got so used to an average winter having 5 ft. or more of snow. I'm originally from the west coast so at the time all that snow seemed amazing but you really do get used to it...and nowadays, even after living down here for a few years now, it still feels weird going an entire winter without so much as an inch.

Winters ice, it soon will spread
Death would freeze my very soul
Makes me happy, makes me cold

The sun no longer sets me free
I feel theres no place freezing me

Let the winter sun shine on
Let me feel the frost of dawn
Fill my dreams with flakes of snow
Soon Ill feel the chilling glow

Dont you think I know what Im doing
Dont tell me that its doing me wrong

I didn't watch the videos but as far as I know, at least in Canada (in my area) any chains or studs on tires are illegal as they damage the streets.

Actually, I have never heard of studs on tires to be honest...that's kind new to me lol! Just get some good snow tires and you're set! Of course, I just have my all seasons which really only cover spring through to autumn. I think calling them all season tires is a bit misleading lol!

Superczar
01-22-2009, 12:06 AM
You're allowed chains or studs between Nov-April here IIRC. I have yet to ever see anyone using chains. Rear-wheel drive is a fool's game around here with the mountains (upwards of 11% grades, trying going up that with RWD in bad weather). Thankfully my tires are perfect for snowy weather (and I didn't have to pay for them!):

It's snowed, again. I have to go plow the driveway, again. It's 3am, again.

UPDATE: 9:45am

Me and my daughter went ou to try to build a snowman, but the snow is so powdery it won't stick together. We will try again after lunch (maybe the sunshine will moisten it up a little so it will stick together). We may have to wait until the second wave of snow falls (supposed to at about 3pm).

Again with the snow!!!

Just plowed the driveway, show is at least 6 inches deep and it's still falling. Weather channel is calling it a "Mega-Storm" It's a lot of snow, and it's still falling, but it's not a "Mega-Storm" in my opinion. Barely any wind, small flakes of snow, no big flakes. But it is falling fast. I personally would consider a blizzard a mega storm, but not this. Bet ZR is getting snow:D

Well it's March. The last of the old snow had melted and now it's been snowing on and off for the last two days in southern New England. I was thinking how I wanted the snow to go and I came up with this:

Ode To Snow
Oh snow how I wish you would go
You are clean and white
for a day or so
Then you turn dirty and black
to our woe
Once I did not think you a foe
Now you just make me feel low
and I just want you to go

PS this poem sucks I know

Pros: Got out of work.

Cons: Kept me from getting my Painting homework done at the college art studio. D'oh.

Yeah, we just got about 7 inches overnight yesterday, then it snowed for another two hours during the day. Now it's Tuesday and it hasn't given an inch after just barely scraping by 26 degrees yesterday.

bump for the heck of it

Our snow had finally melted last week. The last of the big pile we had in our front yard was gone. Then...two nights ago we had a huge snow storm resulting in a foot of new snow on the just turning green again grass. I was not impressed :(

Although most of the snow is gone, we've still got small piles of snow and ice in some of the wooded valleys and the shadows of stone walls.

As we now have over 12 hours of daylight, any new snow won't last long. It's 40F and raining today, but we've had enough 25-35F overnights lately that we could still get snow if the precipitation came down at the right time.

We had some snow this past weekend into Tuesday, nothing to stick on the road as it was on the warmer side of freezing. I think we may be done finally.

Never say that. They'll hear you...
