View Full Version : Disabling Detail Textures

How the heck do you disable a detail texture? Is it possible to do it without editing the texture pack?
I just want to know because UT has a rather messed up texture. It is a masked texture of a set of bars and for some reason they decided it needed a nice grimy detail texture.
This leaves a nice big patch of grimy air between each bar... it does not look good.
Is there any way for me to get rid of this without having to distribute my edited texture with my level?

Not sure, you could export the texture and then import to the MyLevel package, it will automatically don't have any detail texture. But if you didn't want to do that.. I don't know.

What smattbac said! images/icons/smile.gif
(Unless you want to toggle off ALL the detail texturtes from the game console)

(If you need to make lots of custom textures or the textures need to be shared between several maps, it's better to distribute the texture file seperately.)

So basically what you guys are saying is, no.
Damn. images/icons/frown.gif
I was hoping to not use any custom texture packs to make my map easier to install and faster to download...
Maybe I should just give in and bloat my map with a ton of custom textures.

Well, thanks for the answer. images/icons/smile.gif

Sorry if you know this already (do it seems that you don't), but if you import your texture to the MyLevel package, the texture will be saved in the *.unr file, same as your level. So there wont be any extra files. And isn't it just one texture, that doesn't increase the filesize much.
