I don't know how many/if any of you guys have heard of this (http://softrockhallelujah.blogspot.com/) blog yet. It's a blog about stuff that is going on/is going to go on in the future in gaming. She seems to have contacts/knowledge of stuff that I haven't seen anywhere else, however I have no clue as to the validity of her sources, or if she is just bullshitting it all. For example, she says that a Canadian branch of Rockstar is currently developing Max Payne 3, and that DNF is for sure coming out next fall. Most of the stuff she says does seem to make some sense and if you look back in her blog, some of the stuff she's posted has "come true." Anyways, just thought some of you guys might be interested. Take it with a grain of salt, and don't turn it into a DNF release date thread.

That whole blog (or at least the gaming parts of it) seem to me to be nothing more than guesses or stating rumours as fact. She offers no sources or explanations for anything in it, just assuming we'll take her word for it. Maybe she does have her facts right, but the way its presented leaves me sceptical. It would be great if it turns out to be true, but its not the most convincing site ever.

I enjoyed reading it, I'm surprised Kaiser hasn't found it and bugged George and Joe about her DNF release date claims

It reminds me of a comic I once read about a conversation between two writers at a magazine:
"How can you claim to have the inside scoop on a new Blizzard game when I know for a fact that you made the whole thing up?"
"It's easy. I just toss around vague terms like 'revolutionizes the genre', 'state of the art presentation', 'emotionally engaging story', and the clincher, 'it'll be done when it's done'. When Blizzard eventually announces a new game, everybody will just assume it's the one I was talking about."

Wow, far too much political wanking in a game blog for my taste, thanks.
some of the stuff she's posted has "come true."
And I bet majority of the other stuff hasn't come true.
Never believe any of that sort of thing, the fact that she holds no credibility in the gaming 'world' (as far as we know as she hasn't revealed who she is) should show that you shouldn't believe half the stuff she says.
Who is she? Why should we care what she says? There the questions you should start asking her and she should answer if she expects people to listen, though looking at her blog it seems she has a fair few listeners already.. suprisingly.

I opened the page and closed it.
A non-credible person spouting off random "thoughts" about the gaming community as if they were fact... there are hundreds of blogs like this, why is hers' that much more important than the others.

That secret Project X that has been in development since last year or so, should be announced next year and is coming out in 2009. It's a tactical RPG. You can guess the genre of the game coming after that in the year we made contact.
Sounds like a new X-Com. But tactical RPG? F*ck that. X-Com isn't about HP and numbers. Sure there are RPG elements, strength, speed, health, etc; they don't work like in a RPG. You can have a guy who has a lot of health still die from one shot. That's what X-Com is and-
Whatever. This isn't a thread about X-Com but about some stupid blog.

I think a few things have come true and thats why she has alot of followers. I don't buy it, and I hate to read it because there are alot of awesome ideas in there that I wish would come true. Like the time she talked about new sidescrolling Yoshi and Metroid games coming to WiiWare. :(

Well, yeah it's easy to throw out hundreds of half-educated guesses and at least get some of them right... Though this one here seems interesting (not the DNF quote :p ):
2) That Max Payne 3 that some Canadian Rockstar studio is working on may be pushed back to 2009, might take crown of the new Duke Nukem Forever (since DNF is coming out next fall) as development was supposedly started from scratch when said developer took mantle of Max Payne 3 last year
With the Max Payne movie in production, it's possible that they could've moved Max Payne 3 over to another in house studio, after they reported that they killed the game off last year. It would seem like a good opportunity to get a movie/ game tie in to me.

It is cool how somewhere on the blog it mentions that Bush sr. was responsible for the killing of JFk. I have a feeling that will be the popular opinion in 100 years. That is if civilians still exists then.

How could she know about Diablo 3 and Duke Nukem Forever/Max Payne 3?
One is Blizzard/Activision, and the other two are 2K Games. There's no rational explanantion. Furthermore even if someone made a claim about DNF it would be wrong, as I doubt 3DR would ever release that kind of info. 2K, yes, but they aren't really in the loop, are they?
What a waste of time.

Well 2k is going to be in the loop somewhat. 3DR cannot just leave them completely in the dark.

You figure she's bound to be right eventually.
Yeah, like a broken watch showing the correct time twice a day..
Lol, I just read this. A lot of it is nonsense with a sprinkle of truth here and there to make it look as if she (if she's really a she) knew what she was talking about. ;)
There are lines where it's quite noticeably bs though:
2) Yes, Duke Nukem Forever is still coming out in fall 2008, for PS360and computing machines.
PS360? O RLY?
Or maybe PS360 is a term for "PS3 and Xbox360", dunno - never seen it used before.

Exactly. I read some of her stuff and its all based on information or rumours you can find around the internet, especialy the stuff on DNF. All the info is already "out there" she just kind of puts it all in one place.

Have you seen what they've been doing lately? EA has really changed, in the last year or so I say I agree with her, before that I would have laughed.

Yes I've seen what EA has done... and nope, still don't agree with her. EA are simply about money, as they always have been.

Any business is about money. Secondary to that the people are just attempting to do what they like for a living. (getting paid)
It's not like people at game companies do it to work selflessly to provide the masses with video entertainment like they're doing the world a favor and want to be your personal best friends.

I think they've improved quite a bit, you don't see Activision creating/publishing/distributing new cool things like Crysis, Dead Space, Black, Rock Band etc etc. Instead Acti and those like it just whore out full priced expansions to all of their tired franchises in time for every holiday season. Plus EA's efforts on the Wii have been lightyears ahead of most other third party publishers.
But I admit my logic here is a little flawed as I separate EA and EA Sports, EA Sports will continue to release the same garbage every year for eternity and I'm certainly not going to defend that.
Anyways sorry to derail the thread, no more EA talk from me.
Any business is about money.
That's not true. It's true that money is an important thing for a company, just like, say, breathing is important to humans. But a human that can only think about breathing must be the sickest being out there.

EA can't be all about money since they've lost some about 500million dollars to this date, maybe even more as there are no recent figures :)
Sang, obviously you have no idea how big companies work. They think about, first and foremost. Or do claim that they've been very innovative and taking risks? Since, only risky project they have, is Spore - and it seems to be like a sims but with evolution.

Yes companies about making money, turning a profit is very important to any company.
But what I meant about EA was that is all they care about. They churn out crappy sequel after sequel, push out unfinished/unpolished games, offer shitass support... they are a horrible publisher.
Try getting EA support on something... Crysis... try that. :p
Even Crytek has said that Crysis wasn't finished when it was released. And it shows as the game isn't as nearly polished performance wise as they were saying a few months ago. The game has a lot of game stopping bugs in it for some people.
And a lot of users can't even get a response from EA in the support section.
Yes, publishers are out to make money... this is true. But a lot of them actually try to maintain a good customer relationship.
