Are you sure you're doing a complete rebuild? (Geometry, BSP and lightmap)
Does your level have any Movers in it?
If it does, do any of the Movers have their WorldRayTraceKey setting set to a non-zero value?
Did the criss-cross thingys start happening recently?
Do they occur in the vicinity of a particular object? (Add brush, especially) Does deleteing the Add brush and re-building get rid of the shadows?

Wish I could help but I have the same problem. I get this thing happening on the textures on my movers. What's up with that?

You'll need to be just a bit more specific.

If your light is being blocked by a brush or mover they'll emitting a shodow on the wall.
Have you tried the bright corners and low shadow detail in the texture properties?
If that doesn't work above why not try to use a special light.
If you get the shadow on the textures and it's part of a pillard why not copy the polys to the builder brush then delet the old brush that has the odd shadow, then open up the add special brush and add a SemiSolid Pillard. This helps out alot since the semisolid pillard lights up better than the normal brushes. Even the semisolid helps get rid of the annoying bsp holes when you add a pillard, stilagmits(or what ever) hills, rocks, etc,. But the only thing it doesn't do is subtract from the world.
(alittle off topic but o well)

Thanks you guys, I'm off to try it out! smilies/images/icons/smile.gif
Ohh, one more thing, would one of you be so kind as to direct me to a elevator tutorial. please? Unless someone would like to give me the lowdown on how to go about creating one?
I need to make elevators like the ones in Dm-Matrixed.
You see, I'm not sure how I go about configuring the mover, how I get the elevator to meet me on a different level/floor and how I attach doors that would move with the lift. smilies/images/icons/confused.gif
If someone could help with this, then I would owe you one, big time!! smilies/images/icons/smile.gif
With respecting thanks, goodbye!
