What do you need to run this? Just a Garageband guitar-jack to PC mic cord and the codec?

In case that 'dumbed down' version isn't enough, you can run Free Amp 2
http://www.kvraudio.com/get/2426.html

In a host app ( downloads (http://www.kvraudio.com/get.php?mode=results&st=adv&soft=h&type%5B%5D=0&f=0&fe=0&win=1&free=1&sf=0&receptor=&de=0&sort=1&rpp=100) ) - perhaps Kristal? Haven't used it as I use a commercial app.

Fascinating. I'll have to check it out later when I go home from work; I've used the demo version of Amplitube before; it only had one amp, and I plugged my guitar via a quarter-inch to eighth-inch adapter, and there was lots on noise; luckily I have a noise gate now :D

i use freeamp 2. its waaaaaay to heavy on cpu for what it does, and doesnt sound as nice as the free version of amplitube.
if your going to use stuff inside a vst host, you should use the simuanalog suite: http://www.simulanalog.org/

i was just listing this as an interest thing. ive gotten this dumbed down amplitube to make some great tones.
personally, i use a Pod-xt for my guitar, because it is simply the best guitar ton you can get.

for windows: plug your guitar into your mic in on your soundcard, and download the AISO4ALL audio drivers from here: http://www.asio4all.com/

for mac: i have no clue lol. i suspect you just plug it in, then launch ampltube, and select your audio source.

your better off sticking to your line6 stuff man,
i have a pod xt, and this thing doesnt have much on it.

its great if you wanna do some cheap, good sounding pc recording tho.
