Superbad

Rented this movie last night and enjoyed it up until the point that the two cops entered it. Then it just got stupid and very uneven. Too bad (for me), as it had me laughing for the first half hour or so, and I rarely find American comedies funny.

The movie was somewhere within the realm of reality up until the two cops entered it, and then it went way over the top. I really don't think it has anything to do with where you live. I'm sure there are some stupid, unprofessional cops out there, but I kept waiting the whole time to find out that these two guys were actually escaped mental patients who stole cop uniforms and a car. Seriously, I was honestly waiting the whole movie for an explanation like that.

The curly-haired fat kid was hilarious, and most of the dialogue between the kids was really funny, but they completely lost me when they introduced the cops.

It was alright. Funny, sure, but not the funniest movie I've ever seen.

What really annoyed me was how so many people kept comparing it to Knocked Up and the 40 Year Old Virgin, and saying that "BY FAR!!!!" the funniest of those 3 movies was Superbad, then Knocked Up was in the middle, and 40 Year Old Virgin was at the bottom.

In my opinion, it's the EXACT opposite.

I would say Knocked Up is the weakest of the three.

That's how I personally would rank them. All good films, but 40 was still the best IMO... and Superbad gets close at times. But it doesn't exactly make that high.
Knocked Up was good... but it just didn't nail it.

I loved Robocop, because it was a spoof that didn't pretend to be otherwise. :)

The beginning of Superbad gave me the indication that while the characters in the movie were going to be exaggerated, they'd be somewhat realistic. That went out the window when the cop-caricatures were introduced. Didn't like'em. Didn't think they were funny at all.
