I've had to spend 30mins thinking over why I shouldn't pack in schooling and my secured UNI place (in computer game design no less) to go for this job.

I have a lame CV, but an awesome portfolio and past experience in mods. I've spent the past year doing a freeware game using the Quake engine, which incedently has truly awesome single player levels, of which I've designed 45% of, my programmers thankfully giving me tools and an engine that puts Halflife to shame.

I have good friends who own properties out there in the same location and I could get a work visa very quickly in my position.

I feel I could really get this. But although level design is my obsession and I have top pieces of paper that list my excellence, level design and implementation, modeling, art and limited unreal-script sums up my skills. I want more pieces of paper first.

Looks like a godlike job to get.

Damn, that's right where I live, too.

So are you taking the job or not? And what about your "awesome" portfolio, where is it? smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

That job's like literally 10 - 20 minutes away from where I live.. too bad I'm not out of college with a degree smilies/images/icons/wink.gif

j/k, I'm not really into level design, except for fun. Programming's more my thing.

One word, don't.

University is more than just acquiring a piece of paper. It opens doors that would otherwise be difficult to enter. You'll have the opportunity of meeting like minded people. Being at university doesn't mean you have to ditch what you're doing now. The freedom you'll have and the long holidays give plenty of opportunity for working on your pet projects.
