Need recommendation for a PS3 game

Hi.

I just bought a PS3 and I'm looking for a game that's similar to duke3d's player VS player game, but not online. My friend and I want to play the same console on the same tv - against each other with no other bots or players.

Can you recommend any PS3 game like that?

Well, why not just go with the PS1 counterpart of Duke 3D called Duke Nukem Total Meltdown (I believe that's what it was)? That should work on a PS3 through backwards compatibility. I believe that had the two player mode, I'll have to verify that, because it's been too long since I've played the console version of the game.

According to the PlayStation 3 Compatibility status at http://www.us.playstation.com/Support/CompatibleStatus, for the game Duke Nukem: Total Meltdown, when you enter the Red Light area, the weapon graphics and enemies appear corrupted. For the other Duke Nukems for PlayStation work just fine.

I haven't checked it, but I heard that my PS3, the 40 Gig version, does not support backwards compatibility.

It seems 2D is messed up on the PS3 no matter what. Chrono Trigger and FFIV mess up big time.

Got that right... Up until the PS3 proves to have enough quality games to make it pay off, that's about the only thing you can use it for. The REAL good titles for that probably won't be until next year sometime.

Warhawk has split-screen multiplayer. You could do player vs. player on the same tv with that.

The nice thing about Warhawk is that you can play a game split screen and go online with it if you want.

Also, COD4 and UT3 on the PS3 seem to have split-screen multiplayer.

Indeed, I used to drag all my shit over to a friends house just so he could enjoy Dukematch (he didn't have a PC :rolleyes:)

You could try to get a used N64 with Duke64, sure it's censored.. but it's got splitscreen.

We played Resistance Fall of Man last night. All I have to say is, Thanks! We really enjoyed it. Split Screen on a 46" 1080p TV is awsome!
