Resident Evil: Degeneration is due out in 2008. Though Capcom has yet to specify if it will first be released in theaters or if it will go straight to retail, the involvement of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment strongly suggests the latter.

At first, I thought it was another sequel by Paul Anderson and laughed at the title :D

Me too. But after seeing that the CGI was made using PS3 Cell processor I got excited.

It looks really good for a straight-to-dvd release. Though..if it is...that means many sequels if it does well and I have a strong thing in my heart for campy direct-to-dvd sequels.

Dah...what?

Are these going to follow the current triology that's out?

Karthik

Nope, it's going to follow the events of the game.

Bah, I thought it was a film based on Evil Dead: Regeneration when I read the thread title :tinyted:

Ohhh.... I like that. A lot.

Looks as if it focuses on Leon, if so hell yes. Leon has always been my favorite RE character. And since I will most likely buy Extinction just because I own the first two... I will definitely buy this as well.

Leon is sexy in this. A lot. :D

Really? Wow!! That thing has a lot of horsepower!

They probably only are sayin/did that so the PS3 gets more attention...

That's not bad at all for ray-tracing!

Problem is, with that kind of detail you can't do it using just one PS3 and get 30FPS. You need multiple numbers of them working together just to render one frame per second.

Just had a thought about this movie.... will they get the same voice actor for Leon from the games?

Hudson

I hope so

Lean's outfit - or what you can see of it (gloves, coat) looks like his RE4 costume, which is very cool. It's good to see that a movie that actually follows the games' esablished story is being made, even if it does turn out to be direct-to-dvd.

Edit:The gun Leon uses is even the one he starts with in RE4 <3

Quick question - the trailer says that this takes place 7 years after RE2 / RE3. Isn't that when RE4 begins, or was it before or after? Leon says it at the beginning of the game, but I can't remember.

Nope, it's going to follow the events of the game.

And better for it.

Paul Anderson can die in a fire. A fire filled with dicks.

Edit: To answer the above a quick RE timeline,

RE 0 -> June 1998
Mansion Incident (IE Remake) -> July 1998
RE2/RE3 -> September 1998 (IIRC, this is the destruction of Raccoon city anyway)
RE4 -> Sometime in 2004 (Can't remember exact date)
This movie takes place in 2005, which is after RE4.

I think that RE5 is beyond this film, probably 2008, so there is a bit of distance between what goes on in RE4, the movie and then RE5. I'm somewhat expecting the movie to answer a few of the questions I have about what Wesker plans to do with various things before we get RE5.

Interesting, thanks Aegeri. I'd like to see some questions answered myself as well.

I guess you guys didn't see the GREAT Final Fantasy: Advent Children (no, not the shitty FF movie that came out years ago), this one was done completely CGI and was based on the games (particularly VII).

quoted from wikipedia:

The DVD release of Advent Children sold over 420,000 copies in Japan (or by people who imported from Japan) in its first week, which was 93% of all published copies at the time.

so, yeah, I guess it was pretty well liked.

But, yes, looks awsome. Can we please have Hunters now?

Cleric

Screw Hunters, I want to see some Lickers tear it up in all their no-skinned glory :p

Whoa, that movie looks cool. Definately gonna check it out. And bring Ashley back.

Words can't describe the awesomeness of this.

It's still in the works!

New trailer. (http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=47184)

Wow, this looks really, really cool. Claire's original voice actress is in, as well as Leon's badass-ness from RE4. It's very cool to hear the into music from RE2 in the trailer as well . . .want it now :D

God, the Resident Evil timeline is confusing the hell out of me. Does anyone know where I can view an up-to-date timeline that places everything in order?

Edit: Nvm, found one!

Well, I'm deffinitely hyped up for this. The B.O.W at the end looks like the same virus type creature as William from RE2 (G-Virus).

Some parts seem off, while others look like they're pretty spot on. Maybe some clips were put together with different dialog clips for the trailer's sake?

Two new videos courtesy of IGN (http://media.dvd.ign.com/media/142/14269199/vids_1.html) - a red band trailer, and the first eight minutes :D

Must hold out till the full movie is out.

The first eight minutes is followed directly by the red band clip, so in total you get about eleven minutes of the movie. There really isn't much information given at all.
