1) Does anyone have a link to a tutorial on how to use the clipping tool? I've been fiddling with the markers and occasionally I get something to work by chance but I wish I knew what I was doing. images/icons/smile.gif

2) I have a straight section of hallway from which I've added added and subtracted a lot of detail, so it's fairly complex now. I now want to make a curved section of this same hallway. Is there any way to take a "slice" of this hallway and import it into the 2D editor (so I can revolve it)? I've already tried stuff like intersecting a sheet brush with the hallway, but the 2D editor won't import it.

Do not taunt the Happy Fun Ball. If Happy Fun Ball starts to smoke, run away and take cover.

1. Here's how to clip a cube in half using the clipping tool (ill try to explain it the best i can): Build a brush. Build you map. apply a marker (make sure that they are lined up properly on the front, side , and top views. Adding a clip marker using the top view does NOT mean it will properly align in the side view.) Add a corresponding marker on the opposite side, align it properly. select the brush (click the wireframe, added brushes will turn powder blue, while subtracted brushes will turn bright yellow) and click the clip button.
Don't feel bad if it doesn't work the first time, it took me a few hours to get it right.

2. You can try clipping a section off, intersecting it, adding (or subtracting)it, building, then rotating it and using vertex editing to join the sections.

I hope this helped.

Also, just a tip, if you've rotated or vertex edited or done anything else to the brush you want to clip, do a Transform Permanently first. Or else it might clip the brush in wrong places or do other weird stuff.
