View Full Version : How do you generate terrains in DNF?

Can I ask this? I would like to know, if you are you using height-maps (unreal2), floor lofters (WoT, UT), added single brushes (Rune) or something else for building terrains in DNF?

Truckloads of dirt.
Virtual, of course.

The heightmaps as seen in Unreal2 looks extremely swullen. I doubt it will have any real function in DNF. Las Vegas and the desert areas certainly don't need it. I bet they eat some frames. I think Duke will use those extra frames on other more useful goodies. But it's not difficult to import good heightmaps into the engine. I saw that in "Undying". Very swullen.

It's actually used in an old monty pyton sketch.
"Ooooh, Mrs.Belfit! You legs are so....SWULLEN!"
This was repeated over and over by a knight in a wood. He was talking about some legs. When I used it, it would mean some mighty fine landscapes. images/icons/grin.gif
BTW, I realize it should be typed Swollen. But I never cared to spellcheck it. Until now.

WTF? That is soo wierd, I hope that swollen does not catch on, cuz it does NOT have that kind of meaning. Swollen is a bad thing, it means fat, bloated. I thought you meant the landscapes were bad.
Well... that's the oddest way I've ever heard someone use swollen.

That would be cool if they pulled the terrain tool from recent Unreal builds or made their own that is similar.
