I'm wonder if there are any objective based PVP games out there. Give you an example.

You enter the game, and in order to win a match you need to do certain things in order to win the game. Kind of like a checklist.

Back when I played WoW, there was a battleground called Alterac Valley. This is one such example, but I got sick of having to grind out a new PVP set every 4 months so I did something else.

In AV, you need to capture towers, bunkers and graveyards as well as a few other things. There are two bosses you need to kill such as the Captain and the General of the battleground. You get honor points which you can spend. Once the General is dead, the game is over and you start again.

Anyways, bottom line, is there any games which are like AV, but you don't have to spend massive amounts of time grinding honor? Most of the games lasted anywhere between 15 minutes and well, a day was the longest I heard one lasting which was under the old system. I'd like something that is done within 15 minutes, without a MMO grind feel, and you can start fresh every 15 minutes. Not to mention everyone has the same level gear as you (again, no MMOs).

That's one thing which I didn't like was being mixed in with people who just hit 70 and people who were in full season 3 gladiator gear (highest end PVP gear). Maybe this is in the form of a FPS, I don't really know any games out there. That's where you come in because maybe you know some.

Team Fortress 2 is all about objectives (unless you're on some no-respawn-timer 32-player 24/7 2fort server or something). You do have stats that tell you how well you've done, but there's no grind whatsoever and everybody starts on equal footing. A lot of the maps are "push and pull," where two teams are fighting over five sequential control points, but there are attack vs. defense maps and capture the intelligence maps, plus probably many new modes to come (Hunted is almost confirmed - protect/assassinate the VIP).

The Unreal Tournament games also have Assault modes which are really fun. All of the games kind of run together for me, but I have three favorites from the series: one where you fly spaceships to board and destroy an enemy mothership, one that starts with the attackers landing from a helicopter to destroy a train, and another that was a recreation of Operation Overlord.

Yeah TF2 has really nice objective-based maps (well, almost all of them are ;)).
Hadn't heard about the "new" gameplay modes yet, that's awesome!

From the looks of it, it looks a little cartoony. Judging by the trailer.

The Crysis MP mode Power Struggle is objective based.
Battlefield 2 is objective based.

Didn't you just say you played WoW?

What's your point? Until Warhammer comes out, there are currently no games out there better than WoW. Warhammer is more PVP oriented without the grinding.

He was saying WoW is cartoony. Which it is. Even when I was addicted to it years ago, I thought to myself, "You know, these are some of the most ridiculous graphics I've ever seen."

TF2 just has a different art style.

Alternately, you could play the Star Wars Battlefield games.

Yeah the humans do look kind of silly looking, don't they? No offense, but the males, wow.

I guess you got a point there.

I didn't either at first, but the gameplay of TF2 is so fun that the art style doesn't bother me anymore at all.

TF2 has a distinct style to it. WoW seems like another-cartoon-style. But thats it's inherent style, I guess.

TF2 looks awesome, it's got the same style as NOLF.
