This website (http://www.kiddofspeed.com/chernobyl-revisited/chapter1.html) has an interesting and officially unapproved tour of the Chernobyl area by a young woman on a motorcycle. It's sad and haunting look at what was once a beautiful and thriving area. It looks like a real-life Ravenholm now (but without the zombies and the traps).

P.S. Does anyone know why there are American 'Stop' signs in some of these pictures? They look like the standard octagonal signs with a red background and 'STOP' in white lettering.

Isn't that an international sign? We have 'em too.

Equally interesting is one of her other projects, touring the old bunkers from WW2 looking for artifacts with metal detectors. If you liked the Chernobyl one you should check this out too.

I remember this site from a few years back. I'm surprised they would allow anyone to go near the place...

This has been posted here no less than on 3 occasions.

But it's usually a few years between each one... so it's only old timers like me who remember.

Yeah I've read about this years ago. It's funny she does bike through there although getting OFF the road is more dangerous than being on it. Dang rocks and buildings :p

While interesting, it's also fake (http://journal.neilgaiman.com/2004/05/fraud-exposed-and-true-thing.asp).

This is a lot more interesting:

What surprised me most was the builders carrying on as normal next the reactor building, and the other cars on the road - I thought it was completely deserted but this makes it seem almost normal!

Although I've seen it before, I always found this (http://www.kiddofspeed.com/chernobyl-revisited/chapter17.html) to be the saddest.

Hmmm. There are a few areas there that I recognize from Call of Duty 4 :o

When they went to Prypyat, I keep thinking 'bout the monolith soldiers :p
