Back in the day, there used to be some cool game over sequences.. and sometimes there still are in games today.
I'm sure there are some that have left an impression on you, so post about that in this thread and include video or at least a picture if you can so we can see/hear it.
Here is one of my all-time fav game over sequences.. from Shadow of the Beast 2 (1990, Amiga).. just a screen with a little tune but I really like the tune

Space Quest, bar none.

Too many to list, they show screenshots and descriptions of all of them. Back in the days when adventure games were very hazardous, not just walks in the park.

I've always liked the MGS game over sequences:
"Snake? Snake!? SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE!"

Its not exactly a game over screen I know, but in Half-Life 2 if you die and there are other resistence fighters around, they say some pretty funny things.
My favourites are:
'Wait a minute, thats not Gordon Freeman'
'Ohhh, dibs on the HEV suit!'

I hate Game Over sequences, especially the one long and dragged-out ones. All they do is taunt you and piss you off.
But the only game over scenes I really like are the cheesy ones from those old FMV games... The acting still makes me laugh :D

Hitman: Codename 47, where he falls and bleeds his logo in a white background. Very cinematic. The headshot challenge in the other games are good too.
The Max Payne games, the animations in the first game could be really hilarious, and the ragdolls in the second made for some great poses.
Once I used jump30 on top of a window in the Upper East side, landed back down on it, and watched ragdoll Max rack himself on the shutter. Priceless screenshot.

Losing to a boss in Turok: Dinosaur Hunter.
Especially the T-rex.

I throw my vote for the Resident Evil series.
Very simplistic in design but yet very effective. :)

Oh, The Darkness also has a bad ass game over screen. I was trying to look for a YouTube of it, but I couldn't find it.

I can't stand The Darkness' game over screen. It made me want to not die even more than usual. Hmm, maybe that's a good thing..
I loved Max Payne's death sequence, the slow motion and music, with the camera panning around you. MP2's death sequence sucked, no music or slow mo, just a boring ol' ragdoll.

In Deus Ex they would also say some funny stuff when you die

Yeah, Shadow of the Beast 2 had amazing art/music design throughout. Very atmospheric.
