Some awesome photos of eras dozens of years ago, such decadance and style.

Is this staged? The resolution is incredible, so it couldn't be taken in 1923.

Yeah they could have. An old photo, possibly blown up, then scanned at a high resolution.
A decent scanner can do this. I have seen such things done with simple scanners by my mom who knows almost nothing about graphic work.

Those look pretty cool. Nice find.

Yeah even a little polaroid has a resolution of about 5-7 megapixel, if you scan in a full size photograph the resolution can be huge.

The Times Square one is really nice. I want to go there and take pictures but I think I might get harassed. Doesn't matter anyway, the crowd sure wont be dressed as stylish as that.

I've been thinking of finding old areas of town and old items in shops or other buildings and taking similar-style photos.

A slide has roughly ~16 mega-pixels.

This image is 6000x4000 and was taken on my Canon Elan7n Slide film, it's original size was 7200x5200.

Me too, not only have I been thinking of it I've been doing it. The one thing that's almost impossible to reproduce is the people. You just can get those clothes or even the expressions on peoples face, that weathered look or on the flip side the youthful innocence of the young ones in better circumstances. that site is a total gem though, a real time sink. I suggest you get yourself a copy if Lightroom, it really helps in getting that aged look.

I can just setup a custom Photoshop action. I'm broke! :)

I wanted to disagree with you until I realized you didn't mean "a real-time sink".. (RT Washbasin™) :o

Some truly great images in there!

Looks like something out of Life magazine. Film photography has been around for well over a century. There's tons of American Civil war pictures out there, too.
