I just got back from the race a few minutes ago! It was amazing!
Any other Nascar fans here or anyone else here see the race?
Ryan Newman is a real shocker. Didn't see that one coming.
What did everyone think?

I'd never really sat down and watched a NASCAR race before. It was actually pretty interesting. Certainly more strategy than I expected. It was entertaining.

My dad went to this, his favorite driver won the 50th anniversary race! He was quite excited :D

I never saw such a fast pass as that. I know there was a push but still, those new cars can really close the gap at speed very quickly.

I totally forgot about it, plus i hate the look of the new cars (spoiler mostly) and just couldn't stare much at them last year. :o

Was there a big wreck at the end, in the last 10 laps?

I have been to NASCAR races in Australia with my dad a few times. It can get pretty boring watching the cars just go round and round a circular track. Fortunately, there were usually plenty of crashes to give the races some much needed excitment.

The TV aspect really added to it for me. Radio chatter, tracking the team members, camera angles from inside the cars. All that was interesting. I don't think I'd want to sit outside with that many people for that long with a fixed viewing angle.

Me either. But on TV with the commentary all the backstory and multiple views it's a different thing. You can drive those cars at Pocono Raceway for 500 dollars. My brother did it and got one up to 160mph.

Same here.

I've been to a night dirt track race and aside from all the drunk idiots starting fights and all the mud and dirt flying into the stands as a car comes around the corner, it wasn't too bad.

I'm guessing you would need a lot of sun protection for a sunday race, though.

I'm watching the NASCAR races for the first time ever on TV here in Australia, revving at 8200rpm and going 299kph (186 mph)... and those guys are like 5mm away from each other! Imagine if someone spun out. The circle thing is a bit boring, i like our V8 Supercars better :)

V8 Supercars are Ford vs Holden, we watch them and see who wins, then fight with each other who is better at school :D

We don't have NASCAR coverage here but I'd like to see some. I find the V8 super cars bloody boring. A1GP is more my thing :D Although NASCAR=crash :D

Crashing is the only good part of the NASCAR races. some of the best races to watch are the Restrictor plate races. Just flip back to the race when it's about 50-20 laps left and around lap 10, there will be a 10+ car huge crash. Happens almost every single time.
