View Full Version : Importing Textures

I really don't know why I'm having trouble with this. I followed everything on Bean page. But anyways, I saved a really basic graffiti tag as a .PCX file (W=256 H=256) in 256 color. I import the texture and slap it on a basic room (256x256). I can see the texture in the editor but when I load it up I get that default texture...odd. So, what am I doing wrong?
Oh and I saved the thing as a new texture package called "Texes". Does that have something to do with it?

Are you sure the texture is actually 256 colors? Some programs like IrFanView will bump the color pallette back up to 16-bits when you do a resize operation (to avoid dithering, I guess).
Where are you saving the texture package? Is it in your Unreal/Textures directory? It should be.

yeah, make sure you save your map and do a full rebuild.
that's odd, from your post it sounds like it should work.
I think Nutwrench's suggestion is the answer. Make sure that the utx package is in the texture directory, or using the preferences, assign a path to a new texture directory where you stored your utx.

Thanks guys. Actually Bean pinned down the problem. I didn't do a "full" rebuild. I would always go "build" >"build options" >"build"
Shit...didn't know the "build all" was different...thanks!
EDIT: Heh...actually what happened was this: I imported a texture and because I seen my texture group name I thought everything I imported gets SAVED there. I was wrong. Everytime you bring another texture in your group you've gotta save images/icons/rolleyes.gif . But you guys did get my mind thinking so again...thanks
