View Full Version : What's your source of entertainment on the net?

Okay we've had a few threads in the past about what sites you visit but this one is a little different.

I was recently listening to a podcast and they covered sites that they visit purely as their source of entertainment.

There's only one rule:

- You may only list a max 2 sites

I'd be interested to know what site you regularly visit and why and why is it you find that particular site entertaining. For example if it's these forums why is it you come back all the time and what makes it worthwhile to spend all that time there? Also I'd like to know how often in a day you would visit that site.

Facebook because all my friends keep in touch there.

Eurogamer because it's my daily dose of nerdage but the articles are funny and intelligent.

evanazzo obviously doesn't like reading ;) Remember 2 sites MAX only and list things like:

- Why you like going there
- How often you go.
- What is it about that site that makes you keep going back.

etc.

Go into a bit of detail.

For all intents and purposes, I live on the 3DR Forum.
I think the community here is great and there is usually something to talk about here. I tend to learn things here while browsing the Software or Hardware forums and I like to peak in on games I have heard of but haven't played in the Gaming Forum. Post Thread is pure entertainment. . .
I am on Facebook almost all the time. Sometimes I am actually talking to people, but usually I am just around. Reading updates and finding things to keep me from working.

I have a YouTube, but I don't visit it often. I have a Newgrounds as well, but I don't visit often. I also sometimes peak in on Collegehumor.

I enjoy going to Nasa sites like This one (http://saturn.jpl.nasa.gov/home/index.cfm)and trying to keep up with what is going on out there. I am just a noob really at this and i only need a little bit at a time but it is interesting for me. I get a kick at the idea of searching for a type 3 civilization out there and am confident that they would exist.

This footage was taken by a probe that is watching saturn last year and some believe it to be a plasma beem emitted by some sort of inteligent craft.

3DR forums.. I get much of my gaming news from this site as I don't keep up myself these days. Also threads on other interesting topics from time to time (I love having general messages back!!).

Youtube.. I like watching/making vids. I watch all kinds of videos.. but overall, you could split them into five categories - politics, retro gaming, atheism, animals and goofy stuff (that includes Scientology, many funny videos on that on Youtube, especially after XenuTV got back (was suspended for a while, complaint from Scientologists no doubt)).

At least i find it entertaining, the fanbase isn't big enough though...

There's a bunch of forums I visit, but my main source of entertainment would have to be:

http://bash.org - Because it's just lots of fun with a healthy dose of geek ;)

Also there's almost always some quotes I haven't read or forgotten, so in theory it's an unlimited supply of fun!

http://forums.3drealms.com/vb - Well... what else is there to say? I check these forums to keep up to date on gaming in general, the film industry and DNF ofcourse :D

Oh and the people are kinda cool too :p

Why a 2 site limit? Maybe someone has a great site that doesn't make the list, just because theres a limit.
I say screw the limit! http://forums.3drealms.com/vb/images/icons/goofy.gif

3d Realms (http://www.3drealms.com) <--- Link to the site if you lost the url.
- Random post
- Fun fun fun!
- Everyday :D

Gametrailers (http://www.gametrailers.com)
- For Screwattack and the nerd. :D
- And sometimes trailers or the random posted videos.
- Few times a week.

Metacafe (http://www.metacafe.com)
- I enjoy the how-to movies made by guys like Kipkay and babblin5
- Random funny videos
- Few times a week

Penny Arcade (http://www.pennyarcade.com)
- They've got their funny moments and I really like the drawing style.
- 3 times a week.

College Humor (http://www.collegehumor.com)
- Hysterically funny videos.

What about multiple post with 2 on each?. . . that is after some time of further reflection and possibly a change of entertainment source.

3D Realms of course and I would say AMC but new posts are becoming rare (usually like 3 threads or something) so those are like 5-minute visits. Dunno if that classifies as entertainment anymore.. So I'd say 3D Realms and Netlog (some Dutch MySpace ripoff ;))

I wonder what all the people who don't know the reference are thinking right now. :o

The site I visit the most is this one right here. It's a great community to be a part of, and it's genuinely entertaining to hear what you guys have to say. I usually check it a few times every day.

It's pretty hard for me to list a second site, they're basically all news or webcomics and visited fairly equally. I guess you could say Google Reader is my second most used site for entertainment since I use it every day in order to check on my favourite sites. :p

I didn't mention 3drealms, but it's my mostly visited site of them all though...
I visit this website every single day (assuming i'm not sick, or away or whatever prevents me from using the PC with internet)

I pretty frequently visit a different forum as well, a fan website, with a small but strong community...

Duke4.net is being visited fairly often, but mostly to check news i might have missed, or to maintain the forums or to write news items myself...

I wonder what all the people who don't know the reference are thinking right now. :o

That's exactly what makes the ignorant masses so ignorant :tinyted:

3drealms.com (http://www.3drealms.com) - seriously I'm addicted to this forum
netvibes.com (http://www.netvibes.com) - It's a personalized blog reader. Very convenient. It's the homepage that opens up as soon as I open my browser. This is where I get my daily news fix (shacknews, gamasutra, next-gen.biz, faz (german), spiegel (german)).

Well, apart from this place and another gamers' forum there are 2 sites that I visit more tha anything else ... both in swedish though.

www.svt.se
www.dn.se

The SVT site is the swedish television and the DN is one of the largest morning papers in Sweden. I check these sites out several times a day for the latest news and watch quite a lot of TV from that site (not live) as I live i Germany and havent even got a TV.

I also like to mod with crytek engines 1 and 2. With their sandbox editors. Right when I was getting the hang of sandbox 1, sandbox 2 came out and threw me right off. I still mess around with sandbox 2 and Crysis a bit and it is pretty fun. This envoles going to crytek sites and forums. My site for mods on sandbox 1 is pretty much dead now.:(

I visit many sites for entertainment, but the top two would have to be:

3DR: What can I say, awesome people here, if someone needs help with something people always try to be helpfull, if you're not a regular visitor on gaming news sites, you can usually find the latest topics here,
and well, I think this is the best forum there is, it has to be, otherwise I wouldn't have spent almost 5 years (more if you count the time I didnt register) here and still coming back for more

GameTrailers: It's a site for trailers, for games. And sometimes I read random threads on their forum so I can be reminded about how awesome 3DR is in comparison :p
