View Full Version : UnrealEd for building DNF map
Hey I wanna keep on building a map for DNF. I started a long time ago, and unfortunatly I broke my Unreal CD so now I cant get the UnrealEd from it.
Is there any way I can get UnrealEd without buying another old Unreal CD?

that's just a fix...
but thanx anyway.
things to enhance game experiences and contribute to the community should be free and downloadable...

they want you to buy the game, but if you owned it you should be able to type in a code and download it or something.

That patch contains the Editor, too. Look in your Unreal/System directory after you install it.

Yeah, but that only works with Unreal 1 images/icons/tongue.gif . Make sure you get the Visual Basic stuff as well.
I just want the one from Unreal1, I dont care, cuz they are all compatible with the DukeEd.
I uninstalled Unreal and UnrealEd btw... then I broke CD, and now I would like to have UnrealEd only.
I installed that file, its only a patch. It replaces the old UnrealEd.exe with a new one. But it's just an executable, not the programme.

Just go buy Unreal Tournament for less than 10 dollars, get the 436 patch, and you'll have UnrealEd 2.0, the basis for which DukeEd is founded on.
UnrealEd 1.0 is a lot less friendly...

^ Oh my.
S4x... whatever.
DukeED is based of UnrealEd2. And it will not be compatible with the UnrealEd's. In fact you are far better of getting UT anyway, UEd2 kicks too much ass images/icons/smile.gif .

actually, if 3DR went the way of Static Meshes (you better have !!! images/icons/grin.gif ), then you cant build full levels out from UED2 for DNF.
Blah I'm sure there's a way to convert the map I made with UnrealEd1 to UnrealEd2. Only geometry anyway.
I guess I'll wait for cable access...

Uh, Bean, yes you can. It's just the methodology is different. I've made stuff in UED2, exported the geometry to .t3d and imported into the Warfare Editor(2.6+). It's not difficult at all.
And you can build your static meshes in the UnrealEd 2.6 program itself if you want...I'm no good with the pro 3d programs(nor do I have them) so it's entirely possible to do really detailed stuff.
Only difference is that you'd have to retexture the map once you import it. But I don't think Duke uses static meshes, or at least it hasn't been said to my knowledge.
Sh4x - All you need to do to convert maps from UED to UED2 is go to File -> Export, save the map as a .t3d file, then open up UED2, load all your textures, then go to File -> Import the file you just saved. That's it. You may have to do some tweaking of stuff though.
