View Full Version : Build Community Polls & Surveys
I am curious about the state of the Build community and I have started an in depth research project. If any Builders here, newbies or veterans, can go to the following url and take part in these polls and surveys that will be conducted over the next several weeks, would be greatly appreciated, not only by me but the community as a whole, I'm sure.
I'd like to get more of a useful survey by trying to include mappers who are no longer using Build, as well as those who are.
Poll - Who is still using Build? (http://www.planetduke.com/jsbuild/)
Thanks.
And, if you wish to discuss or be part of this project, please see the following thread:

I resisted the move to UED for a long time. I like many hope one day to work in the game industry mapping. For me I had to move on to the newer engines and level creation tools.
I think that most build people don't like the change of systems going from a dominantly 2D editor to a completely 3D editor. It is a big step and not everyone is ready or will to take that step. I believe most who have not moved on only create maps for their own enjoyment and have no reason to move on at this time.
I voted "No" I haven;t touched build in over two years and since moving on to UED I haven't looked back.

I've pretty much switched over to UnrealEd exclusively. The only way I would make something in Build now would be for a TC.
Build will always have a place in my heart as the easiest and most fun editor I've ever worked with. graemlins/love.gif

Umm... shouldn't you have posted about this in the Build forum? graemlins/doh.gif
BTW I've added some notice about this in AMC

I mapped for Duke3D and a little bit for Shadow Warrior then I quit BUILD completely.
I've started messing with the level editor for Gore, and I might try to learn DukeED when DNF comes out.

In any case, I appreciate the comments on your experiences (or past experiences) with Build. I hope more will post as well.
I was quite good at using the Build engine and was mapping for it about 4 years ago but I never released any maps and just left it.
I would never go back to it now and would rather learn some more advanced editor.
I probably will wait to DukeED to learn..

Well, at least it will get people voting and it will be balanced, I hope.
