Half-Life 2 Episode 2 problem

Hey i just tried playing half-life 2 episode 2 for the 3rd time around, but some sort of error has happened im not sure if its from an update or something else, but the game just keeps freezing every second and the patented steam choppy sounds keep repeating, is this happening for anyone else? im playing counter strike source right now and its running fine... so im not sure what the problem is..:mad:

I had a problem like that.
I uninstalled the Nvidia firewall and it worked.

I think it's the overlay. Let it run for 15 minutes by itself and see if it will run smoothly again.

ill try that, i dont have the firewall on though. so that cant be it.

Doesn't matter if it's on or off. It still resides in memory and that's what is causing it.
