Hi,
I'm not sure if it's a bug or a feature, when somebody want to attach picture in format other then jpg, forum software automatically converts it to jpg format. Maybe this it intended to save space in forum's archives, but sometimes it just spoiled our transparent textures (Duke3D HRP thread).

Thanks for an answer.
It seems that it fixed now.
It was not like this before, see our discussion here:http://forums.3drealms.com/vb/showthread.php?p=667519#post667519

I haven't touched anything, and there hasn't been anything in the release notes for the various betas about this being an issue. Not sure what to say.

It works and it's enough.

If the software is changing its behavior, and I didn't do it, and the software says there's no change - then YES. It most certainly does matter.

Test png upload, see yourself:
First attachment is .png file which I have uploaded.
Next one same file zipped.

If this works then it could be a permissions problem with normal users having pngs convert to jpg's.
EDIT: hmm.. weird. Ok converts for me as well.. lemme see why..
EDIT2: Ok I have a feeling that it's because the max width of PNG uploads is set to 1024 and the file's max width is greater than that so it resizes it down and when it does that it converts it to a jpg.
So Joe will either need to increase the max width on uploads (or remove them as they thumbnail anyway) or you just have to make sure the PNG's are under 1024px.

It appears to be the width of the png that's the problem, cutting the PNG size in half doesn't cause the forum to covert the image
edit: Oh, hi ADM, :)
