I really like some of these new tutorials... and if people are getting hung up on these, then direct them to max-ed for max payne, as that is a great step to mastering the ut editor...

I can't get sounds from the player when I create a new map... why's that? and how do I fix it?

Why should anyone try to learn Max-Ed if they are having trouble with UnrealEd? Your logic baffles me.

max-ed is easier to learn, and teaches people the basic concepts of mapping that you can use in any editor...

MaxEd has nothing to do with UnrealEd.

that's not the point... the point is, I'm banging my head against the wall about this sound problem... images/icons/smile.gif

It is hard to say exactly why, but if you put the map up I would be happy to take a look and see if I can't find a reason for it.

thanks for the offer, widowmaker... but I found a way around the issue for now... if I run the audio in software mode... the level works great.. but my soundblaster live should be able to run the level in EAX, just as the full game does...

I'm not sure why I can't get it to run in EAX.. images/icons/frown.gif

Sounds kind of dumb but have you checked to see if you have the most current drivers installed for the sound blaster live?

Try adding '-nodsound' to your Unreal editor shortcut.
