Hmm (http://ps3.ign.com/articles/864/864544p1.html)
Not too much information on this one yet, but it's definitely got some original ideas, which I like.
Players take on the role of War, one of the feared Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Simply following his orders and doing what he was made to do, he and his brethren ride across the earth, plunging the world into chaos as the bad people disappear but the good people will have choices during battle. Unfortunately for War and the other horsemen, they've been called to trigger the events of the Apocalypse prematurely. As a result, humanity comes to an abrupt end as angels and devils promptly fight for the remaining souls and spoils of Earth. To get down to the bottom of this mistake, War is summoned before what's known as The Charred Council, a neutral spiritual body that regulates the actions of Heaven and Hell. Stripping War of his abilities and binding a figure known as The Watcher to the former horseman, War is sent back to earth to rectify the problem, discover what happened to his comrades, and find out how they were misled.

Sounds like a cool idea, but the screenies were unimpressive - or at least the picture that was painted in my mind was far better, far more darker, more I dunno how to describe it... the screenies look like another generic console action game more or less...
[EDIT] After reading some of the comments, God of War was exactly what the screenies came across as...

Wait.. didn't 3DO have a game almost exactly like this before they went under?
[Edit]: Well, maybe not so much http://xbox.ign.com/objects/487/487648.html

I remember seeing that, I was upset that it was canceled. It looked pretty neat, but they were catching a lot of flak because the main character was too Dante-ish with the long coat, dual pistols, etc.
On topic, I see what you mean with the screens Superczar. One of the last lines talks about having "renowned comic book artist Joe Madureira's graphic art style", so that explains the brighter look. However I don't really see a resemblance to GOW - things are modern day and War has a sort of futuristic look in his armor. And I'm sure it'll look less and less like GOW once we see more shots of the gunplay and other environments (which I'd like to see a bit more destroyed than they are now).

i emailed the team and they said that the game was heading to consoles while the PC version was put on ice. So I wouldn't be surprised if this version is the evolved version of the canned 3DO game.

A new interview with tons of information, and I mean tons. This has got me pretty excited now . . .Here. (http://ps3.ign.com/articles/875/875489p1.html)
To sum up a few things I'm most interested in . . .
1. Weapons - The Chaoseater sword is the basic melee weapon which sounds like an entity in itself. It feeds off of the baddies you kill and evolves, but if you don't use it for a while, it can starve and devolve. There are only a few other melee weapons, but they can be slotted Diablo II style with either blessed or cursed items...I'm curious to see what the difference between the two classes will be. There are also ranged weapons to deal with far away enemies - apparently this game will be open ended and very large. Weapons are also split into three categories, either angelic, demonic, or human. Weapons are assigned to the d-pad, allowing you to switch between any three of them at any time to chain together some big combos.
2. Gameplay - The gameplay sounds as if it will be pretty open ended. Neutral NPC's will be around that you can use to your liking for items or other help. Exploration seems to be a key element in finding new items and upgrades. Speaking of upgrades, War will earn Wrath powers, other basic upgrades (health, etc.), and some they didn't get into in the interview. War's horse, Ruin, will also be allowed to upgrade. You can summon him at any time, even while you're riding, so you can jump off of a building and land on him or charge at an enemy and de-summon him while you keep your momentum and fly forwards swinging :D.
Overall, this game's got me excited. People have been saying it looks like God Of War, but there aren't really many similarities. While GOW is an incredible series in it's own right, the two shouldn't be compared. They don't really have any similarities that I can see aside from the QTE's . . .but the interview states that they're trying to make them different from other games that use them.

Sounds cool. I'm curious as to how much the imagery and plot is actually based off the Book of Revelation and how much of it is purely independent. I'd love for the setting and story to be based on the scripture rather than just taking the idea for the characters and running with it.

If you watch the video diary on IGN, one of the designers said they didn't really find a lot of information about the Four Horsemen, so they were able to take a lot of liberties with the game, particularly the Horsemen themselves, so I'm not sure. They also said the game takes place in modern times so people can relate to it a little more. How much people can relate to the apocalypse, I don't really know :p

Well the Four Horsemen aren't restricted to any time period. They're supposed to come during the apocalypse, so it can be whenever they choose to set it, but it would be better if they had used a lot of Biblical imagery. Either way, it looks sort of interesting.

I see what you mean, but as far as any other Biblical imagery or settings, well . . .we'll have to wait and see what else is being included :p

I can hope I guess. A little allusion here or there would go a long way toward making it stand out.

There's a short video that details the story and gets into the art style of the game on IGN (http://ps3.ign.com/articles/880/880344p1.html).
Joe Mad is way too talented . . .

Bump!
Ten minute walkthrough with commentary (http://ps3.ign.com/dor/objects/818225/virgil-games-project/videos/darksiders_spc_commentary.html). Very, very nice to see that the game is coming along so well. The animations are still a little stiff and the camera needs some work, but it looks like it's going to be fun as hell when it's released.
Ha! Mark Hamil is providing the voice of The Watcher. Awesome.

This game is awesome! It feels like the Legacy of Kain series as far as the gameplay goes and the graphics are stunning. For anyone that likes a good action adventure game, go out and get this.
