View Full Version : I live... again!

Klaus Kinski

Home, sweet home....
After all these years (Has it really been years? Maybe. Felt like aeons to
me...) of isolation from the crazy sub-world that the Internet has evolved
into, I still go at first to this place of somwewhat pointless discussion
(Let's face it, none of them changed the world or important peoples minds.)
and unnecessary emotional rollercoasters (pure rage about people
disagreeing with the thesis that smoking is an constitutional right to
orgasmic waves of joy just because the jetpack will be in DNF). It's kinda
mind boggling, especially since ties to the people around here are, at
best, nothing but blurred memories of some dude who once visited. Strange.
Still, I can't resist. I feel like Marc Dutroux in a kindergarten.
Just FYI, I used to lurk here. Defender of the Duke. I had an opinion on
everything and I actually felt the need to tell everybody about it, no
matter if it was welcomed or not. I was (still am?) the kind of guy who
wrote insanely huge posts (oh the irony...) with thousands of quotes,
dissecting what the others said in their wrongness (at least IMO). Yes, if
anyone would remember that, it must be Drazula (Greetings from the bowl!).
You see, I've been lacking a proper internet connection since.... years.
For some time I was stuck with a dial up modem. Browsing the internet today
with a dial up modem is like being able to have an erection but no orgasm.
You just drop it after a while, it's just not worth the time. There's no
gratification. Activating HL2 over dial up makes the Jurassic period look
like a commercial break and loading VE3D becomes a task of literally hours.
It's not worth the effort.
Later I didn't even have that. Being a victim of my chosen field of work, I
dwell in places that are simply forgotten by the gods and therefore by
humanity (especially the people from the DSL providers). I turned into some
sort of nomad, traveling the dark corners of the earth (unlike Jack Walters
I did it even running), never being at home. Always "staying temporarily".
Too old to call the place my mother lives at "home" (a depressing idea,
really)
Someone told me once: "home is the place you can always go when there's
nowhere to go." I have places to go and things to do. But that place won't
be really home and no thing I do will change that.
You know, the internet can replace an amazing amount of things. Sex life
for some (Just try to find a transsexual, zoophile asian dwarf in Michigan.
That exists only online.), social life for others (Evercrack players, raise
your hand!). Maybe it can replace this magical thing Dorothy with the red
shoes likes more than anything else. Maybe home is somewhere online. Maybe
home is a place I can access wherever I am physically located. Maybe it's
this forum.
Maybe I don't care, maybe I shouldn't. I guess it's time to STFU and just
enjoy the limited time I have DSL for sure and watch what goes on here. It
might be interesting. Or not. Whatever, it will pass time. Probably in an
enjoyable way, whatever enjoyable might be.
Thank you for your patience and no, you can't have your time you wasted
reading this back.

Klaus Kinski
04-07-2008, 01:00 PM
I miss out?
One day I went into a shop to buy one or two, well maybe it was even 12, DVDs and suddenly found a copy of a game in my hand that wasn't supposed to exist. The development was cancelled for, at least to me, unknown reason. I guess there were technical issues that resulted in halting production. For at least 6 or more years I had said game shelved under "Not Gonna Happen" in my memory. Suddenly I hold it in my hand. I was surprised, even a bit shocked.
That game was Prey.
Two months ago I found out that the Orange box is out. Yesterday I learned everything about Deus Ex 3 and rumors about Thief 4 (I'm madly in love with Deus Ex and Thief). This week I read for the first time what id software, Valve (I love Zombies!) and Epic are doing right now. I didn't know about CoD4 until it hit shelves.
I spent the entire last week with nothing but trying to catch up with the gaming world. I spent 3 years in the void.
I'm just glad they didn't finish DNF. I was actually genuinely afraid of that.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack chefs on fire off the shores of the baltic sea. I watched bratwurst glitter in the dark near the black forrest. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die. ;)

No seriously, I was just in remote, god-forgotten and isolated places to work like a Dungeon Keeper Imp for people who screwed me over like a 5 $ crack whore. Unfortunately I had no crack, so I was forced to endure everything at full consciousness.
Whatever you do, never work in a kitchen. The people there are twisted, perverted and slightly insane and that rubs off!

Klaus Kinski
04-09-2008, 08:07 AM
I love my line of work. It's that simple, it gives me satisfaction I couldn't get before (why does that sound as if I was a pervert?). Unfortunately the only way of getting the really well paid jobs is either getting a job that is dull, repetetive and generally unexciting or giving up my private life. Next, I'll try out the first option as the second is, as I learned the past years, to overpriced.
I've seen people going that route, living for nothing but work and they all turned out to be very unhappy or very insane. I'm talking about the kind of insanity where you can actually land in an Asylum. Happened to one of my bosses.

For anyone who cares:

Thief 4 thread at the TTLG forums:
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=120596

i vaguely remember this comment:

There definitely will be a Deus Ex 3. People want another Thief, too. We'll make that series more modern, though...the medieval thing's run its course.

I'd rather have an old tyme Thief setting, but if this is the only way they will make a new one, so be it. They could still have the voice guy play Garret's replacement, although they could also leave off where Thief 3 ended, which would be interesting.

However, Thief 1, 2, and 3 all came together very well as far as story goes, from the Pagans, to the Hammerites/Mechanists and then the war between the two and the Keepers.

I just can't imagine Garret using a silenced pistol instead of arrows in the new age, but that would be damn funny.

No more posting here, no more watching Mr.T on youtube (it never gets old) and no wasting time with wikipedia's articles on goats anymore. *sigh*
On the other hand, I'm not gonna stay in that appartment for long, if things work out the way I want, I'll move out in a month and have an internet connection shortly after that. \o/ We'll see. Until then I have to substitute the internet with that "real" life thing.
Anyways, you are all doomed. I'll be back. So I am not sure how well I should wish you but I'm sure we'll have a lot of fun.

Yes in North America it is a show where Gorden Ramsay takes a bunch of chefs and eliminates them down to the best one and either hires them or gives them a restaurant. In the UK it seems more laid back. Usually it involves comedic events where if something is not completely perfect he throws a fit
