Has been a while since they played with the DS and the PSP is outselling it in Japan. What can they do to improve it? Slimer, better battery or something we were not expecting?

E3 is a good time to show off some new trailers and stuff, but I am not expecting anything too big. Maybe there will be a StarCraft 2 display.

The only reason the PSP is outselling the DS in Japan is that the market is completely saturated by now. The DS was outselling the Wii even at the height of the console's success, so it's a given that eventually they're just going to run out of customers.

It wasn't a public event last year, it's not new news.

Booth babes were also cut back severely a couple of years ago now and while some places still have the odd one or two there isn't really that much focus on it.

Also E3 isn't in one place like it used to be, it's split up everywhere.

E3 may not be the place to go anymore, but E3 is still the best time to show off upcoming product.

Gaming sites will carry all gaming news and during E3 there will be more people looking at these sites. Upload a cool preview during this period and it will get noticed. E3, now you don't even have to turn up.

I always like the big 3 shows XB/Sony/Nintendo you can tell a lot from these as to how they want to develop their franchises.

How could they not make one? It's capable of relatively good graphics (though it could be simplistic if necessary), and the cartridges can handle enough to at least fit a bunch of stages and a few dozen characters. They could cut the Adventure mode for all I care, as long as the fights are challenging enough at the high levels. I'd certainly get it if it turned out well, as would most DS/Wii owners. Hell, the DS/Wii communication would make it easy to add new features as well.

What you're thinking of is Resistance: Fall of Man, of which the sequel should probably be at the show this year. It's absolutely amazing how much better Resistance 2 looks over the original (which wasn't to shabby!), Insomniac has said in several interviews that over the development of Resistance/R&C:FTOD they have become quite familiar with the hardware advantages of the PS3.

Take a look at some of the newest Resistance 2 screenshots they've released, they're absolutely spectacular.. especially when you realize that everything in them is in real-time :D

Perhaps, but don't count on Recoil to attend. The initial media release for Earth No More has passed and now they are putting all their effort in to development, so expect no new information for the rest of the year.
There might be some coverage for Prey 2, Incarnate or the other two unannounced projects, though.

In the incredibly short video a camera pans away from a clutch of Alien eggs as a voice, obviously the voice of a Marine talks in the background.

One of the eggs breaks open unleashing a young Alien and you can hear the marine say:

The calibre of jRPGs on the 360 is questionable (Blue Dragon = bad, Lost Odyssey = middlin'). The good jRPGs are coming for the PS3: White Knight, and FFXIII/Versus/Whatever. I really don't think Japanese people are going to buy a 360 just to get a few good RPGs (that will probably be ported to the PS3 as it has a much deeper market penetration in Japan). I expect PS3 to end up with more jRPGs by the end of their (360 and PS3's) lifecycle.

Well Sony has said that they plan on focusing more on internal exclusive IP's this time around, they already have the FPS genre covered with Killzone 2 and Resistance 2, plus LittleBigPlanet looks really sweet.

IMO the FF series has gone down the tubes since VII (with a small reprieve on IX), but they're still getting Versus and other titles.

Real shame in the midst of this "focusing" they canceled two potentially awesome games though :o

Nintendo did hint that there could be an iPhone 2.0 type software update to the DS to allow apps as well as games!

And the ultra precice remote looks like fun. Especialy with a Star Wars game coming. I would add another 10 million sales for that one.

So Nintendo bring new innovation to the input device and a new take on the ever popular music game that everyone is doing. They hint at big things to come for the DS and tons of games including GTA for DS. This is called boring.

I've not seen the Sony one yet (hopefully tonight I'll catch up) but compared to the over long eye candy of dozens of sequels and remakes that you could almost have guessed what they would look like introduced by the grey suits of middle management that was the MS conference... Nintendo wins hands down.

I have a good imagination and can see how these new input devices can be used by developers. Which is better than yet another music or video delivery service (which are mainly US only and hardly anyone outside of the US cares about anyway!) which seem to be the other two's main selling point.

At least Nintendo was mainly about games and having fun, even if the smile thing got grating very quickly.

Tons of games? What conference were you watching? Yes it's boring when they show only a few games which aren't geared towards anything but the casual market. The Wii Plus has potential but they've showed no substantial implementation of it unless you really are desperate to throw a damn frisbee(Plus other mind blowing mini games!). But given the constant ned to re register its position will it even be appropriate for more traditional games? (or was that only because nintendo expect controllers to be passed around a lot in wii sports? ) We don't know cause they haven't given any details about any of it.

In my eyes the Nintendo conference was a joke ... I'm keeping the system for the new Mario and Zelda titles. I couldn't care less for a new Wii sports game (I played the original for 15 minutes and never came back for more) or that animal crossing game or in fact any other game they were showing.
I understand though that the Wii is a party console and that those games - animal crossing, wii sports 2, music, etc. might be cool for parties.

Now MS... they've shown that they've been working and that they're really trying to make the Xbox 360 the ultimate home entertainment system. And their game lineup is just awesome to the core!

I've seen the PS3 show now too, Sony pulled off the most show biz presentation, the strength of having a whole corporation with media and entertainment experience.

Sony have some nice titles in their line up and and showed the best range of games.

MS might have claimed they are going to sell more than Sony but the PS2 sales figures in it's 9th year are dame impressive. You have to give the PS3 a few years before you write it off.

So they have the biggest software sales, the widest range of software (even if a lot of it is rubbish). But it got to mean developers are working on more games and Nintendo decided to show the tools developers will have to play with rather than the games they are making.

It would have been nice to see the games but I'm sure there will be plenty of great games for the Wii over the next year and I don't need to see them all at E3 to make me consider buying a Wii.

But I do have to agree the Nintendo and MS show were so boring, at least Sony caught my attention for the full hour and a half. Nintendo had the shortest show and could have done with another 20 minutes or so of game play or trailers.

Then again sometimes less is more and I can't see it hitting their sales at all.

Agreed. That trailer should have cut off around 30 seconds to a minute. If they weren't going to show any gameplay... four minutes is just unreal.

I hope these two games are both good and both different so I can get them both. I hope the PSP version is like the Manhattan Project.

Actually they've said the PSP version will not have any side scroller sections. But the DS may, and FPS and third person parts. I'm going to get all three games on my DS. :)

They are three new games. A new trilogy developed for the DS and PSP. They aren't remaking any of the older games, it's a brand new storyline.

What? It's three separate games? I would have been fine with it being three shareware-sized games on one cart. I don't think I'll buy six, so I'll have to wait and see what they're like before deciding. Are there no screens anywhere?

I hope it doesn't deviate too far from traditional fps action.....my best bet is that it will be a good portion fps with several 3rd person sections where you're "nailed" to a chaingun, rail-shooter style, much like early builds of DNF. :)

If I had a PSP or DS I would care about this more. Is this a Radar Group thing? I know it says Apogee etc but who is involved in this project?
