Right,
When i try to make a door i always seem to be able to walk sraight through it like it's not solid..the door moves up and down like it's supposed to...but it seems to be nonsolid.
Anyone else have this problem with ED2 and know how to fix it?
Thanx for any help..
Ps..i made a door using the 2d editor and it was solid and worked great..but i have quite afew differnt size doors to do and the 2d ed
takes far to long to make em images/icons/frown.gif

Just before you intersect your build brush with the door, right-click on the build brush and select 'Transform Permanently'
You don't have to use the 2D editor to make a door. You can use the build brush to carve a rectangle into just about anything.

And if "Transform Permanently" doesn't work, try the following. It's longer to do, but it always works.
1) Build your door as a brush in a separate part of your level.
2) Build a cube sized 256*256*256 by entering those numbers in the cube building window. Do not "add" it to the level.
If "Transform Permanently didn't work, the result will NOT be a cube, but a box that seems to have nothing to do with the cube. Don't worry about this, in the next point it will be fixed.
3) Resize the grid to 256 units. Move and resize the cube to give it the exact size of the grid. Now the proportions of the building brush are correct.
4) Intersect the red cube with the door brush.
5) Create the door mover in its real position.

Thanx for the help guys images/icons/smile.gif
NutWrench's way did the trick nicely..
I hope you don't mind me asking another question?
not sure if this can be done though..
Say I have 1 wall and want to add 2 textures side by side.
Is there a way i can add the extra
vertex's to split it..so i can have the 2 textures
on 1 wall?
Hope you know what i mean..

I don't know if you can add your own vertexes to a polygon. I think that would be really neat, though.
If you wanted a room to have 2 textures on the wall (upper and lower) you could stack 2 subtract brushes on top of each other (each subtract brush would be half as high as the finished room). The resulting room would appear to be one big room, but you could put different textures on the upper and lower parts.
You could also take a pre-existing room and use a very thin subtract brush to carve away a slice from the outer wall. Then you can texture this new poly any any you want.
You can also use Add brushes. If you were designing a warehouse and wanted to add some yellow/black warning stripes on the floor, you could design a long thin rectangular brush. Make sure the upper surface of the Add brush is flush with the floor of the subtract brush. Add brushes can even overlap each other or stick into a level from outside.
Finally, you can use a flat sheet brush to add detail. Sheet brushes are 2D, so they may look solid, but they won't block anything (hint hidden sniper spot!). If you don't see anything after you add your sheet brush, you may need to rotate it around 180 degrees.
You can construct a mover out of several different brushes. When you Intersect these brushes with your build brush, you create a single, new brush made up of all those parts. (You should probably texture all those parts first before you create your mover)

Thanx for you responce NutWrench..you've been a great help images/icons/smile.gif
I think the flat sheet brush works well with what i need to do..and is easy enough to work with.
Thanx again
