For those who don't know - Trackmania is a racing arcade in the spirit of legendary Stunts, eg. making your own tracks, sharing them and trying to beat the best times.

Trackmania Nations Forever Features :

I got it a couple of days ago. Pretty addictive. I got the Gold medal on several tracks already.

Yeah a few of us have been playing it it seems (the free one). Fun game, and free, you can't beat that. I have all golds in the White courses and 10/15 golds done in the Green courses. I've also got about 9 or so bonus golds (for beating Nadeo's "secret" times). I'm on as Superczar if anyone wants to add me...

Trackmania was a huge letdown for me. The fact that everything is just time trial (even multiplayer) and that there are basicly only like 6 cars (from wich half handle like ass) made me stop playing after a week ... :(

I dunno if anyone knew about this but you can customize the look of your blimp. In the advanced editor click the paint can then the blimp. Rider's time wasn't that hard, but your time, Betelgeuse, was a nightmare!

Finally got it, though. Nice map, Rider. :)

The crucial things to get right in the map are

good speed out of the first chicane combo
landing flat (brake slightly in the air when your car is at it's flattest)
getting good traction out of the corner before the checkpoint
entering the hairpin at the end at a good speed and then achieving good traction out of it

ARGH this game is seriously starting to piss me the f*** off!!! It took me hours to get gold on D04 (I managed to beat it after unlocking the secret Nadeo times and guess what I was so good at 3/4 of the track I was SMOKING their time but I always get screwed over at some point) and I still can't do it on D05, it's insane...

I unlocked E01 and when I went to try it it told me that I unlocked the secret Nadeo times for all tracks (and it did), but this track is a complete sonofabitch. The only time I managed to make it to the end I went right of the finish line and off the track...

make an account here http://tmnforever.tm-exchange.com then once you've made and saved a track, upload the track to tm-exchange by searching for it in your trackmania directory (it should be in "my documents/trackmania/tracks").

i know that feeling, in some tracks that are referred too as "tech" it's a good idea to "drift" corners. it sounds easy but pulling off a good drift can shave seconds off a lap sometimes, just break+accelerate and turn at the same time but start early, before you get too the corner, and it's also a good idea too start wide.... does that make sense? lol

EDIT: drfting isn't always necessary, especially with full speed tracks.

I got the expansion for United, but I'm disapointed that there are no new Platform challenges, especially when there were so incredibly few in United to begin with. Platform is what TrackMania is all about for me.

Just when D07 - D10 got really fun, they kill your enthusiasm with D11. Took me almost an hour to beat the gold time, and sadly I was only 0.11s over the Nadeo time, which I HIGHLY doubt I'll come close to again... :doh:

I was playing online last night and actually managed to do fairly well in most races, but... it looks like you can cheat online, I saw a guy who was able to SMOKE the record times on several tracks, any time you caught a glimpse of him he has definitely going much faster than anyone else.

That allowed me to unlock D14, and that track is a royal pain. The 'club' design of the track makes maneuvering hard, I couldn't even come close to the Gold time.

E01 I still can't even complete for some reason, and E03 has to be the worst track yet I've played in the game. I'm not a fan of the dirt tracks in general, this one though sucks balls bigtime. I haven't even managed Silver yet on it, the random physics keeps f***ing me over and the overall poor design of the track makes that 10X worse it seems...

I still need to unlock D15, and I'm going to start working my way to 1000 and 5000 ladder points (I have about 250) to unlock E02 and E04. I need 4 more medals yet to unlock E05...

that guy wasn't cheating, trust me, there are some serious FREAKS that play online, and they get unbelievable times, the game has been around for 3 years or so, he's just been playing it non stop and figured it out and im not even sure if there are hacks/cheats out there? i think they're some what of a myth.

I ALMOST got Gold on E01, only to lose a bit of momentum at the last loop to finish 0.17s behind... I wanted to cry, I can't even come close to that time now... :(

I can see where your coming from, but about a year ago, i had the same feeling, i felt i was doing tracks pretty damn well, only to have my times slaughtered by 5 or 4 seconds, i think a good example would be a track like TinyTech, if you can get 35 seconds on that track then your doing ok, but the world record is in the 33 second mark. my pb is 34.27, iv'e never broken to 33 it's damn damn hard.

I managed to get Gold on E01, and I actually had the Nadeo car beat up until the final loop where I messed up a little on the exit... :(

D13, D14, and E03 are still kicking my ass, I'm really starting to hate dirt tracks due to the physics.

I played online some more tonight trying to get my ladder ranking up, but my god every server I played on had TERRIBLE tracks, one server had tracks that had I would say an average rating of 40%, they were godawful in design and about as fun as passing a kidney stone. I wish there was a way to tell which tracks had the official Nadeo maps, they are more fun to try and race against others on...

you should try "Let's Rock" in usa, that server mainly contains popular maps from nations, and if you're after nadeo tracks just look for a server with "nadeo" in it's name. one of my personal favourite servers is "old and crazy" in the Netherlands, the maps are all pretty short and usually require a certain technique to get the fastest time.

Those were my 2 biggest problems as well Bludd, but at least the track is fun. If you haven't tried E03 then you're in for a nasty surprise...

You have to just come out of the barrel loop and be at full speed still before that big jump or forget it, I still can't hit it right I'd say 25% of the time... and the hole in the wall you have to remember that it seems like even if you drive straight to the hole, the car wants to drift over to the right it seems, you almost have to "trail" the hole...

It's just like a re-edition of TM sunrise extreme. They make money with an outdated produce... I paid 30 euros for TM united Forever and i'm really disapointed!
