This may seem a little odd, but I am writing a paper in a media theory class and one of my main topics is Max Payne. I ad mit that I am a Max Payne junkie which is why the game ended up as one of my source topics. What I want to know is what draws other players to Max? I myself love the action of course, but i also love the movie feel that the game has. I was wondering what other people's opinion are on the game and what makes it so damn fun to play.

Its the bullet-time baby!! no other game has it like max. I love slowing everything down. I only use mods that have infinite bullet time so i can run around and just use bullet-time. its the best! ohh and umm the story

It's more than obvious that everyone here's drawn to Max for the Bullet Time, jawdropping graphics, gritty gameworld, and the sexy titular hero (winks at Bask). Aside from all that, I was originally -- and still am -- drawn to it because it's so far the only game of its kind that truly depicts the 'real' and raw beauty of Hollywood action movies, one that you practically take an active part in.

BUT, most importantly for me, the mature subject matter is done well (although, IMO, it wasn't nearly as consistently and thematically mature and complex as Deus Ex or even Fear Effect). I'd love to see Max Payne's sequel really penetrate mature subject matters even more, and I'm not talking about the sex and violence so many teenagers fall for, either images/icons/rolleyes.gif .

I'd have to agree that Max Payne makes it possible to reenact the cool gun scenes you see in the matrix or MI2, etc. I'd like to see Max Payne's action combined with Deus Ex's freedom. Not sure how that'd work but I'm sure they could come up with a way.
