Of all the trailers that came up before Iron Man, this (http://www.apple.com/trailers/lions_gate/thespirit/large.html) is the one that made the giddiest.
(Hey, Morricone's theme for The Untouchables!)
Which is odd, really - I've never read any issues of "The Spirit," and I'm hardly familiar with the characters on anything more than an elementary level.
What I do know for sure is that many comic buffs, artists and writers alike seem to refer to Eisner and his work with reverence; with that in mind, I couldn't help but watch this trailer and feel that I was in for a treat come '09.
Also of note, it'll be Frank Miller's debut as writer/director. He was entrusted by a close associate of the late Eisner to carry out a film project based on his work, and by golly he's doing it. As is apparent from the teaser, it's to be done in the style of Sin City, digital manipulation and what-have-you (will there be more colors than black, white and red, though...?).
Now I'm going to take it upon myself to read up on this as much as I can by the film's release date. There's got to be something about a 60-year-old comic franchises that gets it a film today, right?
So is there anyone on these boards who would actually knows what this is all about, really?
