Look, I have a problem. I just spent lots of hard work making a level and I just realized that the whole thing is way out of scale (it's too big) compared to the player, so when I move around the world, it feels like I am as small as an insect.

I have several questions:

1. Is there a way to adjust my entire level so it will be the right size?

2. a. What are the basic measurements in the level editor for an life sized room compared to the player model characters that you play as?

b. Is there a special chart that you could give me or tell me that would tell mw what measurements to use for making different sized rooms in the level editor?

3. How many units in the unrealEd program equal one foot?

I'm really having trouble with this, if you could please answer my questions, I'd be really grateful.

Thanks!!!!

You could surround the entire level with a build brush and Intersect it. This would create a single brush that you could scale.

After I create the first room in my level, I usually add a Nali to check scale. He seems to stand about a foot taller than the player.

The best thing to do is to start again. Also it's best not to try to work out scale with comparisons with the real world, but rather the scale to which the game world feels the best.

Trial and error really.

if ur using the ut2003 editor, there is a scale map feature built in.

For U1/UT1 mappers there is a tool called MapScale with which you can resize an entire Unreal map at once by any given scale factor (X,Y,Z axis dependend or independend).

NOTE: You have to export your map to t3d format and then import into UnrealEd after scaling.

The tool can be downloaded from:

A simple rule I use is that 128 units high is perfect for door heigth. 256 units is a room that has a high ceiling. I usually go for 220 units high when building rooms. Also I use 80 units wide for door widths.

the build editor and the unurealed editor have almost similar measurements, an hallway by 4 gridpoints wide is big enough to walk through, given you use the standard settings, this also goes for height, but the height goes best in steps of 8. anyway, once you get the feeling it wil all work out

Thanks for the measurement recommendations. I have the worst luck with scaling a map correctly. At least in UED 3. images/icons/blush.gif
